Gout

She's had almost every disease ailment and broken bones kbown to womankind pal; )

On a serious note though you do know about health and nutrition and offer some good advice on here.

I've had mild gout about 4-5 times and got prescribed with Naproxen which helped.
I think it was because i was working away, often in remote locations and I
couldn't eat as healthily as i wanted.

I read up on gout and(like you said) changed my diet for the better. Started drinking plenty of bottled water and staying hydrated is key in helping to avoid gout. Same goes in avoiding kidney stones which I've suffered twice. I've never felt pain like it, so bad that if someone had passed me a gun I'd have shot myself!

Thanks for that and glad you have found some relief.

I'd never offer up any advice or comment that i was uncomfortable with or that i thought could cause even the remotest chance of harm.I walk the walk where diet/nutrition and training are concerned, and if i can pass on that knowledge and experience to others who need some motivation and help,i will.

Sad as fuck that some get their kicks from trying to find fault.

Is it weather related?

Last winter I had a slight reddening between my big toe joint and nail, bending my toe it felt like it was really stretching and painful, went away but this last week as it's got cooler it's come back.

Is this potentially an early sign of what's to come? I'm active, golf, eat pretty healthy and although I like a drink don't to excess unless on a Wembley trip.

Hoping I've not got years of pain ahead of me.
Hmmm....maybe Raynauds or chilblains.Definitely worth investigating, but IME,if it is one of those.....both are almost impossible to treat.

My initial thoughts were chilblains but this thread had me thinking gout.

From a quick read on those two, thinking about it there was an itch too so chilblains looks favourite.

Anyway back to the thread title rather than my mini derailment.

Book an appointment buddy, over a video link obviously.......
Like most blokes I will do.... probably later, against what I should do I'll likely leave it a couple of weeks and see if it goes. But I'll contact them in Oct if not cleared (I know if it does it'll come back again)....but 'like most blokes'.

The doctor should, I say should, recommend a blood test between flare ups. There's no use testing during an attack as the acid is no longer excessive in your blood by that point, it has crystallised in the joints. It was the third doctor I saw who told me this, the first two just advised rest and to go to A&E if it got bad. Wankers.

I started on Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) after my last attack (a 4 week flare up last summer) and so far, fingers crossed, nothing this year, other than the feeling of it starting a couple of times but then not worsening. Aldi and Lidl sell their own versions of ACV much cheaper than Holland and Barrett.
