He should be arrested and charged and tried in a British court if thats the case.

Sending him back to a country that uses torture to extract confessions is another matter entirely and that is illegal according to the ECHR

This is what the panel was saying "if he cannot be deported" There was also some conspiracy theory that the reason why he has not been arrested is because the British Intelligence put pressure on the authorities not to!

That was mentioned earlier in the thread.

It is entirely feasible to me that he was granted asylum on the grounds he turned grass on Al-Qaieda. What better cover than to keep trying something they know they cannot achieve whilst Qatada sings like a canary.

Well I have to agree to a point, there is no smoke without fire. But I would put nothing past the establishment to have a hidden agenda regarding this man!

If we had done this eight years ago immediately he arrived on forged documents, instead of pissing around worrying about what may or may not happen, we would have saved millions.

That dress he's wearing is just so wrong with boots, he deserves fucking torturing just for that.

I was explaining it to the Romanian nurse here yesterday: Abu Qatada is regarded as a danger to our country and despite not doing anything illegal he has been arrested, detained without trial and then held under virtual house arrest. She couldn't believe it.

BBC News said:
His deportation was finally able to proceed after the UK and Jordan signed a treaty agreeing that evidence obtained through torture would not be used against him.
So I wonder what evidence the Jordanians have against him that wasn't obtained by torture.

Can't say I'm sorry to see him go, just that he hasn't been shown due process under current law, or rather in the absence of current laws to protect the country from allegedly "dangerous" men like him.

The sad reality is that most people do not give one shit about human rights.
