I believe it's 2 weeks after release for online. Atleast it gives us time to get to grip with the single player aspects before leaving us dripping wet from multiplayer.

Online only 16 players at any one time but there are over 500 missions on multiplayer alone to start off with
They range from skydiving compatitions to street races to doing bank jobs. We could even arrange a tennis of golf tournament if we wanted to!
The scope for multiplayer is amazing
