Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

Personally, I don't think he's dedicated enough to his fitness (apart from his calfs of course) and just wants to be liked and enjoy his football. We all know he's gifted but it appears he doesn't have the professional mindset you need to be the best.

Think what you like about Jack, we'll have a blander squad when he leaves.

All the real 'colourful characters' are gradually drifting away or have been whittled out of the club. I reckon there's only Bernardo left who has any real personality after Jack leaves.

It's a shame. The game could do with a few more Mario types to liven things up.
I’m gutted if his time here is up. None of us get to see what goes on behind the scenes, but he has never been given the role he is good at on a regular basis. I’d there are issues that are flaws in his character, that’s different but I for one wish he could have played with a more free role often.

That said, he contributed enough during his time here, especially the treble season and he leaves laden with medals. He also said ‘you, you’re a ****’ to Savic, which then lead to him having his hair pulled. Quite a few seconds of comedy right there.

Nice guy. Average footballer. £100m flop.

Is just about right to be honest.

Definitely a nice guy who has been a very average player in his time at City.

Any 'blame' lies firmly with Txiki for paying the release fee of a player we never actually needed and Pep obviously didn't want.

I hope he gets back on track wherever he goes.

I don't need to be grateful to Pep. The club gives him £20m+ a year to do a job and he does it well. It's what I expected him to do.

I'd prefer to see more exciting, entertaining football from both teams rather than City dominating a one-sided training session every week. Unfortunately, Pep prefers to use players who stick to rigid instructions and tend to lack any real flair.
You’re more of a bell than I thought then.

You can't spend £100m without the approval of the top guys.

100 million pounds goodness me. Where was the due diligence or could he just not handle the pressure and competition for a place.

Didn't Pep say he wanted him more then anyone else at the time?

You want a highlight reel, go to YouTube. Thats just what clearly came to mind off the top of my head.

And yes, created two goals against Orient. Watch that back too. Khusanov’s “goal” could’ve been Lewis’s which Grealish would’ve assisted and he got the assist for de Bruyne’s goal.
I'm not arguing the toss about a 100m player on 300k per week assisting 2 goals against fuckin' Orient!

Grealish has not delivered and been disappointingly underwhelming most of his time here, that's why he doesn't get many starts. When he's on the pitch it's all so fuckin' predictable. He's wasting his career, and soon as he fucks off and wastes it at another club the better.

Except that I haven’t failed to recognize his contributions to those seasons.
And that’s not what I was responding to.
One of our players has gone from being one of the first names on the team sheet to being a peripheral figure who has barely kicked a ball lately.

The whole point of a forum is to discuss stuff like this. If people (not me I might add) are trying to make sense of what’s happened by highlighting a player’s deficiencies then it doesn’t make them stupid even if you see things differently.

Anyway, it’s a shame if he is leaving and I wish him well if he does move on.
Fair comment

My post was aimed at those who seem to have taken their lead from the media and just trot out the asinine “why can’t he play for us like he played for Villa” nonsense. Or “4 good months in 4 years for £100m” type comments.

If that’s their opinion then as far as football knowledge goes they are stupid. If you’re not one of them then I apologise.

Aye stuck out on the left with the touch touch cutback and pass? Bollocks.
He wasn’t able for anything more was he is the issue and not a patch on our midfield options over the years

He wasn’t good enough, a prime Grealish now probably would be good enough to play in midfield for us, but he’s way past that

The main issue with him is that he’s always been a small fish in a big pond here, he’s never grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck, or had the bollocks to do so, like others have said, always played within himself

Doesn’t get in the Newcastle side for me, or even Villa, needs to look lower for the sake of his career.

There seemed to be a problem with Jack after the game on Tuesday - he was nowhere near any of the other players until Bernardo came over to talk to him & then gave him a hug - something has definitely kicked off! Shame he’ll be going, as he seems a decent human, though not sure we’ve given him the best platform (he’s not a winger) & consequently he seems to have gone back off the rails, if rumours are to be believed! Still loved his shirt off treble celebrations!
Jack seems like a talented player with a lot of mental demons. There have been lots of excellent players in the past like him who never really achieve their full potential because of their off-field lifestyle. But no one can ever take away the fact he played a key role in winning the treble. And not many footballers get to achieve that. I wish him well in his future career and the rest of his life. He did his bit for City just like Balotelli, and some of the other characters who have worn our Blue shirt for brief periods.

I note with interest what some posters are saying about Grealish, he's a pisshead, he's unprofessional, etc, etc.

I have no idea whether they are basing these statements on firm info or whether it's media bollocks.

I'm also aware that Pep can be a moody sod, he's very stubborn, and is more than capable of falling out with players and freezing them out.

I suspect we'll find out next season when Jack gets a coach who plays him in his best position, makes him feel like he belongs, and puts faith in him.

What happens then? Does he let that coach down by having a poor attitude or do we see the old Jack Grealish return?

I suspect it's the latter.

Love Jack but even since becoming a Dad ive seen him feature more times in the last taxi home than a City shirt and for that reason im with Pep despite suspecting Pep too has been less than balanced of late.
