If only there were a few more of that type of display in him.

If Elano could play at that level on a regular basis he'd have been one of the top creative midfielders in the world. He deserved to take us through single handedly in that game and was unlucky not to. Classy player, shame he couldn't maintain consistently good form.

Also, how unlike him was it to perform so brilliantly on such a freezing cold night!?

Arni Arason at Spurs in the FA Cup when we come from 3-0 down to win 4-3. Made some very important saves that night.

1. Hart vs spurs 2 seasons ago opening game... he single handely got us a point in that game...

1977/78 season City beat Chelsea 6-2 Dennis Tueart scored a hatrick but it was the performance of one Peter Barnes that day that will stick in my mind..he tormented the Chelsea full back, who saw red for two mis-timed tackles in the end...poor fellow had twisted socks.

The thread got me thinking about opposition performances and I remember a few games against Southampton when Le Tissier seemed to be playing us on his own. Berbatov beat us on his own in a cup match v Spurs when they were down to 10 men. Zola, Merson, Henry and Gullit also put in performances at MR that live long in the memory.

Just remembered Anelka v Everton.

Was the Merson game the season we went down under Royle from the Premiership? Remember clapping him off that day, best I'd seen at the time. Berbatov on his own in the League Cup quarter final was immense. I also thought Rossi for Villareal last season did really well v Kompany on his own up front, think he broke his leg the week after.
