Greatest winger to play for City

Got to be Mike Summerbee,had everything you want in a winger plus a good header of a ball.Played as a centre forward at times but best on the wing.

Also hard as nails,he kicked full backs,especially those in red shirts.

Got to be Mike Summerbee , in view of the 350 appearances , or so , that he made here .... and the fact that up until now , he'd played in the glory years
Great shout mate,I have to agree,but TC (Tony Coleman)on the other flank was albeit a little slower but could put a ball on a sixpence and neither were shy of putting themselves about in the day.;).

Just talking pure Wingers and not including wide forwards such as the king of all geordies, David White, Huckerby etc;

In my time; I would have Peter Barnes just pipping Buzzer and SWP for top spot.

Special mentions for Beagrie - and I was so upset that January Transfer deadline day when he came and Anders Limpar went to the terrorists,Everton.

Mentions too for more recent players Petrov and AJ. Both excellent wingers and in another time period at City (pre £ ); I am certain both would get the credit they deserve.

No contest, for me, it has to be Buzzer. I was at Maine Road, autogragh-hunting, the day he signed and was privileged to watch him throughout his career at City. A great player, a great man and a great ambassador. Just three of my many memories, the first goal at Newcastle, the equalizer in the League Cup Semi-Final at the swamp and a match against Chelsea when there was no quarter given betweem Mike and Eddie McCreadie. At the end of the match they walked off arm over arm with big smiles on their faces.

I've often wondered have David Wagstaffe would have got on under Joe if he had stayed at City. Pacy and a pin-point crosser, Derek Kevan scored over 30 goals in one season, a lot from Waggys crosses.

The greatest winger to ever have played for Manchester City on the left wing was the legendary Eric Brook. He is also Manchester City's all time highest goalscorer.

My grandad saw them all and said no question whatsoever Brook was the best, with Summerbee second. Brook scored something like 180 goals for City, an awesome player.

one of my first blue shirted hero was david wagstaff who was a winger barnes tueart hutchington beagrie were all great wingers but for me mike summerbee was the best, a great crosser of the ball, a great dribbler, but unbelievably aggressive, he was for a time very very effectively used as a deep lying centre forward.

summerbee senior gets my vote
