What were you imagining MCC stood for? ;-)

I know what it stands for but I didnt want you to appear stupid ;-)
It's never bothered him before!

Thanks for elucidating that Andy. I hadn't realised the interest of the other funders was time-limited, which would explain the decision not to buy the stadium outright at this point in time.

so we give Manchester council 3/4 mil a year, does that stay at said amount as the tv rights, champs league, fa cup, season ticket and money coming throu the gates will go up. if so then its a great deal. and another thing, if council owns the ground, then they can put more seats in for us.

Appparently one particular pitch in this new training ground development that City are building has the abilty to 'change the grass' to match whatever surface City will be playing on next !

Not quite correct.

There are currently 6 different types of grass used around the Premier League and CL grounds.

The 6 pitches dedicated to first team training will be prepared with each different type of pitch. This means that the first team will prepare for each indivdual game on the type of grass at that particular stadium

I was told by someone far cleverer than I am that that was the case and it makes sense when you think about the way the whole stadium issue is being dealt with.

What happened to the area being like Las Vegas?

Takes a bit longer than 4 years to transform the area. Try 20 and we might be somewhere close. It won't be like Vegas though. We have a bit more class than that.

Its all about that 15 year window for any works to be completed.

The deal for the collar site also moves the task of finding partners, sourcing funds (most likely from AD of course) and getting the project completed within the timeframe on City's shoulders so its great for the council.

I suspect it frees up a lot of red tape, and other VFM issues that the council would face but private equity doesn't have to.
