We give them £5m a year. £3m a year for the lease, £2m for naming rights.

I know I am being something of a pedant here but the figures announced in the wake of the new deal were -

With the announcement made by Manchester City Football Club on the 8th
July the rental agreement will provide a sound basis on which to plan investment of the
rental income. However, more importantly, it should now generate, in total,
circa £18m to £20m of resources over the next 5 years

That works out at no more than £4m p.a.

Takes a bit longer than 4 years to transform the area. Try 20 and we might be somewhere close. It won't be like Vegas though. We have a bit more class than that.

I would be interested to hear views or any insider knowledge of what is planned for the commercial development of the campus as I cannot visualise anything that will generate tens of millions in annual profits that will make a big dent in FFP restrictions.

A hotel & some retail/leisure units does not look like a licence to print money to me.
