Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

Illogical argument. That's like saying the United have won 2 trophies this season because they won the Charity Shield. You can't progress in a tournament you aren't in which until 6 or 7 years ago we haven't -and we are in a substantially better position as a football club now than any time in the past and so our expectations clearly differ

Ok then.

Since we have been in the CL it is our joint second highest finish?

Last year we finished GD ahead of 5th and this year it looks like 2nd or 3rd with about 10-12 points more.

And we could win the FA Cup this year.

And still bell ends moan.
And we might not. And how much did we spend to "possibly" win the FA Cup. And stop hiding behind a keyboard throwing insults its childish

So why not wait until the of the season you mouth breathing idiot?

And believe me, I'd far rather being having this conversation in person.

I love this " could Pep keep Accrington Stanley or Rotherham up" bollocks, Messi is the greatest player of this generation, arguably of all time, does he think he'd keep them up??
Alex Ferguson took St Mirren from nowhere to somewhere - took Aberdeen (one step up) from reasonable Scottish team to European glory and then took Them lot to continual success so proving a good manager can do it at all levels (and by the way Messi is a player and not a manager)

Terrific post, every point smashing the nail firmly on its bonce!

Yeah it is a good post. We've seen lacklustre performances to many times over the years, it's about time we had a manager who's willing to make changes to big name players. If they're not up for working to his methods, get rid. I think for vinnie, it's simply down to reliability.

Hart was able to pass out form the back under Hughes until the club sold our most skillful defender, even with goal kicks.

Accrington Stanley stay up due to the excellent recruitment with ever paying transfer fees , and taking on other's rejected players and making them work. Pep would struggle, you don't arse about at the back on league 2 pitches. But then again you should never play Kolarov at centre back ducking headers and not closing down strikers.

Ok then.

I agree - but similar to Munich he has done ok but slightly worse than the year before. TBH I am confident we will be alright in the end with Pep but only because football is completely different to 20 years ago but we will do ok because we will buy enough quality players to simply be better than the opposition and his "approach" to the game will probably appear successful, but again, if you have far better tools at your disposal you can be inefficient in your output but still produce more than the guy with limited tools to work with

Guardiola to Axe Kompany

Very disrespectful title to have on a thread about our club captain. I know it's probably copied from the rag media but I'm surprised we Blues willingly go along with it.

You seem to forget Kompany too is culpable in that accusation. His lack of interest on Southampton's goal was pretty telling.

I don't think Pep thinks Kompany is as good as most fans do. Which is normal. Most fans still view Komps through the prism of What He has accomplished while Pep simply views it from what he currently does. Clearly he doesn't think he is good enough.....thats what Im saying...he is wrong

I. Won't lie to you, I haven't seen anything special from Kompany in 3 years. People bend over backwards to ascribe overall performances to him which is normal as they do it with many of our other greats too.

But a blockbuster performance from him I haven't seen in a while. The best defensive performances I've seen in the last 3 years have all come from Otamendi Zab or Sagna. And this season maybe 1 from Kolarov. Our defensive performances against teams who are strong offensively are shambolic....Ottomendi isn't a team player.....he has no focus and is a headless chicken far too often charging around. Kolarov is the biggest fake Ive seen play for this club since the takeover....average at going forward (vastly overrated but he media and by fans alike) and cannot defend at all...his ONLY attribute that I will agree on is his passing between the lines which is very very good.....weak in the air (especially around the back post area, doest intercept crosses unless they are straight at him very poor one one one and cannot tackle. Saga's distribution is woeful especially when further up the pitch....his defending is sound however. Zabba - gives it his all and still good going forward but his legs are slowing and he is having trouble getting close enough to nippy wide players

Komps at best has been decent in his appearances the last few years. Hence why people ascribe team calmness, confidence, belief and all these other unquantifiable characteristics to him, because its hard to point at any great individual performance. Kompanys decent is by far better than what we have at present. His average performances do give people calmness.....there has been no semblance of calm in that back 4 all season...it is easy for good teams

And also they sometimes ascribe a win or a clean sheet to his presence. Its all fine and good, but nothing Komps has done recently suggests he is any better than the other 3 CBs. Pep on the other hand seems to think he might be worse based on his actions. - again thats why we are here...I disagree and the defensive performances prove it.....they are shocking...Pep can say all he wants that it starts further put eh pitch and to a degree I fully agree with him BUT we are not going to have our way like that all the time SO when it comes to defending we have to be able to do it and the lot we have at present either cant do it any more or never have been able to.....

I don't disagree on replacing Kompany IF he cant get fit...its a no brainer.....but we need to replace the who back line as a matter of priority. Stones is the only one I would keep (and that isn't based on what Ive seen...thats based on the hope that Pep can make him better and that he matures into the player a lot believe and hope he can be)

As I've said before we will also need to buy a new capt as none int he present squad are able to fulfil that role except Zabba and I cant see him playing fully time enough o warrant giving it to him.

In terms of specifics:
He is probably the best header of the ball Agreed
He is probably the weakest passer of the bunch.----weaker than ottomendi!!! you are having a laugh he regularly gives the ball away every week as well as falling asleep and lettting people run off him on a regular basis...and stones gave away 2 easy passes within 5 mins of each other vs monacho and he does that regularly to!
Definitely the weakest carrying the ball forward. - again no weaker than ottomendi, Kolarov gets away with so much and gets incredibly lucky by diving all over the place
Not as good as Ota at either tackling or intercepting......Kompany for a couple of years before this bout of injuries was the best one on one defender going.....ottomendi is rash and gets away with it sometimes..sometime not...stones is poor one on one
His tactical positioning has been lauded here often, I'm not so sure it is justified......you just have to look at how shit our defence is without him yet our organisation is so much better with him on it...
But lets assume it is true that he is the best at defensive positioning. He is clearly the worst at positioning when we are in possession.

So there are advantages and flaws to his inclusion in games.
