Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

Careful bluealf, if you don't watch it they'll accuse you of being a rag, as I found when I expressed an opinion some time ago. Being a blue doesn't mean you can't have an opinion. Pep will be successful, but occasionally some of us want to discuss things.

I think I got called a rag last in preseason when I said that them signing Zlatan wasn't a laughing matter and his 26 goals so far are definitely not, sure one smart lad claimed he wouldn't get near 20 goals for the season!!!

Generally, I've been slated on here for pointing out Joe Hart's monumental clean sheet record for us and England (much better than Neuer's internationally) and for speculating on what the owner might think when he looks at the money he's spent on some players and their wages. Been watching City since 67 BTW.

Now you are the one that has to be careful, Joe Hart is just a dirty word around these parts, he was never world class, never saved a shot down low to his left, gets all manic and excitable in the tunnel before games and worse than all of this he can't pass a football and let us not mention the unmentionable secret that some seem to know about his background stuff, some keep alluding to it but never spitting the accusation out, it is easier to smear quietly over the internet.

67 you say, good time to start, mid to late 70's for me, you couldn't even buy a City shirt where I lived, red tops were everywhere though :/

It's been a long time since we were able to see how good he actually is these days, which is unsurprising considering he hasn't been able to string together more than a couple of appearances in a long time. In an ideal world he'd get fit, put 10 games under his belt and we'd be able to see what level he's actually at now, but that looks increasingly unlikely.

He will almost certainly not be the player he was before the injuries, but we won't know how much he's lost until he gets on the pitch and gets enough time in his legs to get over the initial nervousness. The coaching staff can see him on the training ground so should have a better idea of how much he's lost, so are in a better position to judge if he's worth the gamble.

Sad reality is we only get 17 foreign spots, so if he can't offer enough to warrant one then we have to look to move him on, regardless of how great he was before the injuries.

No whining from me, I have not replied to you since our argument from way back, mainly due to you not being able to read what I was typing, it seems something similar is happening again.
I haven't said anything about Hart coming back to play for us in that post but it is an easy deflect for the casual reader to see and form an instant opinion about a poster.
VK wasn't one of my favs but he is the best centre half in this club, the conversation ?I was having in this thread was really about Pep saying VK was fit to play but then not playing him, your input was to wade into a club legend and list all the faults you think he has, I then referenced Bravo due to the huge set of blinkers you and many other had on at the time, telling everybody that they were pretty much Hart fan boys and Bravo would be our number one for a long time to come and we better deal with that (Hello Willy), negating to think that if Bravo had come in and played like a top 5 keeper in the world then we wouldn't have been as bothered, yes we would have a little bit as nobody likes to see legends treat like ****s and fired out the door.

I prefer not to slate legends of the club when they are coming to the end of their time with us, see the thread for Zabs and the huge amount of disrespectful posts in there, each of us is different and if you get your jollies out of thinking that VK is a bad passer of the football and can also not bring the ball out of defence, just so you can be top of the class in the back Pep is always correct group then fair play to you.

Like I did say, I hope Pep is very successful with us, I hope he pisses off all the doubters in the press and wins over the doubters on here, it will mean we have gone up to the next level as a club but and this is the big but... we all don't have to kiss his arse every step of the way and agree with everything he has done is doing or will do in the future.

very well said

no football manager is infallible.....even Pep.

We need better defenders and if we lose Kompany we also need a new capt as none of the present squad have it in them.

We change captains at a drop of a hat and I don't think it means much to the management who it actually is.

Strong characters on the field often go hand in hand with titles and there in lies part of our problem.

After we lost at Barca a couple of years ago, it was reported a couple of times that part of our recruitment strategy would be to increase the number of on the pitch leaders. Apparently there was a recognition within the club that we could be too flaky. It doesnt seem that we've done that.

I personally think Vinny will retire from playing in the summer.

A big part of his problems is now psychological now, understandable after so, so many injuries during his career.

The guy must he gutted, unable to play at what should have been the peak of his career at a club he came to love.

This seems to be becoming a theme on Bluemoon. I'd love to see where all this blind fawning is because I'm yet to see it. Nearly everyone I know has criticised Pep at some point this season. I think it's about perspective though. Saying that you think he picked the wrong team against Monaco is normal. Saying his team's can't defend and he doesn't care about defending or crying about how Bobby did it better is just pathetic.

Could be a combination of physical leading to psychological.

The focus & pressure on Vincent is massive & could be getting to him.....dammed if he does, dammed if he don't.

Speculation isn't going to help anyone. Close the thread until an official statement is made.

Will be a sad day when Vinny leaves or retires a true City legend that in the years to come will be ranked alongside legends like Bell Lee, Sumerbee , Book.
