Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

I'm convinced that one of a number of surprises that Pep has had since starting @ City is the stark reality that, week-in-week-out, game-in-game-out, there are no dead rubbers. Every single game comes with some significance and difficulties and an opposition that if nothing else wants to leave its mark.

Had he been at one of his previous Clubs, I suspect that Pep would have found a game here and there that he could use as an opportunity to bring Vincent back up to the right level (or prove for sure that he wasn't capable of doing so).

No whining from me, I have not replied to you since our argument from way back, mainly due to you not being able to read what I was typing, it seems something similar is happening again.
I haven't said anything about Hart coming back to play for us in that post but it is an easy deflect for the casual reader to see and form an instant opinion about a poster.
VK wasn't one of my favs but he is the best centre half in this club, the conversation ?I was having in this thread was really about Pep saying VK was fit to play but then not playing him, your input was to wade into a club legend and list all the faults you think he has, I then referenced Bravo due to the huge set of blinkers you and many other had on at the time, telling everybody that they were pretty much Hart fan boys and Bravo would be our number one for a long time to come and we better deal with that (Hello Willy), negating to think that if Bravo had come in and played like a top 5 keeper in the world then we wouldn't have been as bothered, yes we would have a little bit as nobody likes to see legends treat like ****s and fired out the door.

I prefer not to slate legends of the club when they are coming to the end of their time with us, see the thread for Zabs and the huge amount of disrespectful posts in there, each of us is different and if you get your jollies out of thinking that VK is a bad passer of the football and can also not bring the ball out of defence, just so you can be top of the class in the back Pep is always correct group then fair play to you.

Like I did say, I hope Pep is very successful with us, I hope he pisses off all the doubters in the press and wins over the doubters on here, it will mean we have gone up to the next level as a club but and this is the big but... we all don't have to kiss his arse every step of the way and agree with everything he has done is doing or will do in the future.
I Guess my analysis of VK's strength and weaknesses is now "slating" or "getting my jollies off"? You are so self righteous sometimes. It's okay for you to disagree with the manager and point out what you don't like but others do the same and suddenly they are the type that get their jollies off. Oh well.

This seems to be becoming a theme on Bluemoon. I'd love to see where all this blind fawning is because I'm yet to see it. Nearly everyone I know has criticised Pep at some point this season. I think it's about perspective though. Saying that you think he picked the wrong team against Monaco is normal. Saying his team's can't defend and he doesn't care about defending or crying about how Bobby did it better is just pathetic.
Bingo!

I would love to see him back playing to the level of old. Even if he was playing to 60 per cent he would be better than what we have at the moment. Maybe Pep has lined up the replacement already. Who knows. Vinny has written himself in our history if he was fully fit this season we would of been a lot closer. The team lacks a leader. Until Pep adresses this we might have problems for some time.
Granted we need to get rid of the dead wood is Kompany dead wood yet is the biggest question. Kompany if he gets on the bench against Liverpool is a big plus. We got the internationals break after that. More time to build up his fitness levels more time to prove himself. We all know he is a fighter and a great leader. I fully expect him to give his all in the remainer of the season and if he gets a chance for him to take it with both hands and hopefully his body holds up to it.

I'm just throwing this into the mix because it was a question I was asked yesterday and I couldn't answer it:

If people (including the manager apparently) feel that having Vincent Kompany on the bench is the waste (or whatever word you want) of a sub a) how does VK build up his match strength and b) why is it different from having any other player on the bench? After all any one of the players could break down after 10 minutes or be injured by another player or just by pulling up with a hamstring/muscle strain etc. after they've come on as a sub or even if they started.

As I say, I was asked the question yesterday, by an Everton supporter by the way, who rates VK and can't understand why we are not playing him if he is fit. He reckons, as I do and as others do, that VK brings the leadership that we are missing.

We change captains at a drop of a hat and I don't think it means much to the management who it actually is.

Strong characters on the field often go hand in hand with titles and there in lies part of our problem.

actually i think yo are right...what i should have said is that we need to buy a player who is a real leader...give that person the captains role

Pep obviously had been told that Stoke away would be tricky, I just dont think he realised that Stoke at home could also be tricky. Or Boro/Southampton/Everton.

My guess with Kompany is that before all of his recent comebacks the manager was told by the medics that he was fully fit, or as fully fit as he ever was going to be. And then he broke down, either during a match or in training. Its Catch 22 now. Pep isnt going to believe he's injury free until he's played a run of games without picking up an injury and he isnt going to get a run of games because Pep doesn't trust his fitness.
