Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

very well said

no football manager is infallible.....even Pep.

We need better defenders and if we lose Kompany we also need a new capt as none of the present squad have it in them.
Had Kompany been fit we'd be challenging Chelsea now. He is the difference. You need players like Kompany on the pitch and if you don't have them you are a lesser team as a result. No shock there. But if he's training and not playing you have to conclude he is not able to play at his old level. Perhaps he needs a pre-season, but I am sure Guardiola now knows what his priorities are now. Add a defender or two, or three to this team, and we'll be hard to stop. We're a lot closer to a top team than we were at the end of Pellegrini's time as we now have Sane and Jesus who are as good as anything I have seen. We've just got to tighten up defensively and that will be about getting the right players in.

This seems to be becoming a theme on Bluemoon. I'd love to see where all this blind fawning is because I'm yet to see it. Nearly everyone I know has criticised Pep at some point this season. I think it's about perspective though. Saying that you think he picked the wrong team against Monaco is normal. Saying his team's can't defend and he doesn't care about defending or crying about how Bobby did it better is just pathetic.

Ah here you are, what has your reply got to do with anything I typed ?

I never said he picked the wrong team for Monaco, I also never said his team couldn't defend and oddly I never cried about Bobby's team being better at defending (but since you bring it up, they were.)

I did say in response to somebody else that one of the three people that were sneering at people for criticising Pep could not stand our previously successful manager and was on his case for his entire tenure, very hypocritical but here you are all the same.

If you are going to pull bits out of my posts and quote it at least make your reply is relevant and somewhat truthful.

If you want to see the blind fawning you only have to open your eyes and read, there is plenty of it in this thread and plenty of it in the Bravo thread but you would probably have to go back to September/October to see it at its laughable best.

Interesting that you think people supporting a player who's just joined the club is "blind fawning" and "laughable".

Damocles, Shears and Fantasy Ireland, sneering and looking down their nose at anybody who deigns to have a different opinion to themselves, one out of that lot hated our most successful manager since Mercer and all of that while he was winning trophies but woe betide you if you don't back Pep to the hilt, if you do not you are nothing more than an foolish idiot.

No you're building a strawman.

If you want to talk about Pep's performance then fine. So do I and presumably FI. BillyShears has a whole podcast where he's critical of Pep and in fact gets slagged off for being TOO critical by people.

The thing that pisses me off is that some people have a starting place in their logic that he's wank. Bill's constant sneering towards who is seen by the non-City friendly media as the best manager on the planet is ridiculous. Same with many others. This "HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING, HE FLUKED EVERYTHING AT BARCA AND FAILED AT BAYERN!" is also ridiculous.

The difference between us and them is that we generally start from a place that Guardiola knows what he's doing due to the about fifty fucking trophies he's won in 7 years of management. We think that if something does wrong then it's worth thinking about what he was trying to achieve, what did or didn't work, and plan from that. What we don't do is say his entire system of football is wrong and here's what he should have done instead gleamed from years of experience I have about football from being a bricklayer in Blackley.

For the record, people used to say the exact thing you've said about me when I talked about Hughes, Mancini and Pellegrini. In fact I had arguments with Billy over Mancini and FI over Pellegrini. These people are at the very very top of the game that's inhabited by millions of people. You don't get there by being a clueless buffoon. You presume that they know what they're doing as a starting point and jump off from that.

Doing the opposite thing where you presume he doesn't know what he's doing is what gets me sneering and looking down my nose at people. This guy isn't just talented, he's the top 1% of the 1% and has the trophies to prove it. He deserves to be given a bit of respect for that.

top post.most premier league managers know what they are doing but at the top of the tree they have better resources.

You're far too kind. ;)
