Manchester City youngster John Guidetti has turned down a new deal with the Premier League club.

The Blues have offered Guidetti an extension to his current contract, which runs out at the end of the season.

The Swedish striker, who signed from IF Brommapojkarna in 2008, was loaned to Burnley this season and has recently appeared on the bench for City's first team.

But the 19-year-old hotshot feels his future lies elsewhere and hopes to secure a move to Germany, Italy or Spain as he will be a free agent.

"It's a good contract but simply not good enough," he told Sportbladet.

Better alternatives

"There are better alternatives. My contract expires this summer and then it's time to move.

"It's a perfect situation. I am a striker who should play in one of the best leagues."

Guidetti has made one first-team appearance for City, with his path to the first-team blocked by the likes of Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko.

21 appearances for us this season Jo has had.

There is not a single reason every single one of those couldn't have been given to Guidetti.

Another clanger by the manager/club. Look at how good Sturridge is turning out, albeit the circumstances with him were different.

Well done, Mancini. You may have just lost yourself a top prospect, AGAIN.

I fail to see how this is mancinis fault when Guid turned down the contract extension??

Jo is a better player than Guidetti

In our system, he's not even close. In a direct system like Everton's, Jo might be more useful but Guidetti would be much more useful in our system. Power, Tevez/De Jong-like tenacity (fights for everything), can hold up a ball, has an excellent turn, and is a good finisher.

Being more useful than 2011 Jo at City is like being better than zero. Almost impossible not to be better.

People will say "Well, Mancini disagrees" and yeah - Hughes thought Ched Evans was better than Sturridge too, he was also wrong.
