Guitar Thread

I have decided to make a change and I have listed my Takamine electro 12 stringer and my Epiphone Dot on eBay to see if I can sell them at a decent price.

I think I will continue to monitor the Martin acoustics to see if I can snag a bargain at not too much extra cost.

There is a mint condition D-45 on there at present for £1,200 (which will go for much much more but it will be interesting to see where it ends up)..............
Get a Martin- end of story. Just make sure that it isn't an X series and I'm not a fan of the all mahogany 15s so realistically an 18 or above.

Now if you can land that D-45 ........

That D-45 was de-listed once it has hit about £3k from memory (I imagine an offline deal was made).

What don't you like about the 15's (I nearly landed one for about £900)?

There will be a lot of people that think this is heresy but they don't sound like Martin's. They have too much of a cardboard type sound- great for delta blues but not much else. They just don't have a plan B in them.
An 18 or above, whether it's a Dread, 000, OM or whatever is just so versatile- it's never out of its depth.
Don't discount the Road Series either- one of my Martins is a Mexican made solid wood Road Series and in many ways it's as good as a D18 at less money. You just need to check that it is solid wood, most aren't.

The only people that seem to have D15s and love them have other Martins as well to get an alternative. Get a D18 or D28 though and that can easily be your guitar for life.
Get a 000 instead and that's better still- I'd love a 000-42 to add to the collection

Much appreciated - that's insightful..........

The Harley Benton was a pleasant surprise. Benefited greatly from a proper setup but overall I’m pleased with it.

Got the George Harrison Tele look without the £2749 price tag!
