Gundogan back to Dortmund ?

I think gundogan is a great player. He covered the dino role brilliantly when he had to, he scores some great and important goals, technically very good and is experienced.
I don't get this hate for him I really don't, he's had bad games like most, we need to keep him and like @karen7 said we need to keep numbers up not deplete the squad.

Sure with a run of games I warm to him, but I cant remember if it was Swansea or The Foxes In the cup he was truly dog shit, and very static. I don't boo or have a player in a City blue shirt I rally against, I just don't think there is much of a role for him going forward. A fit Ferna or New grounds with Rodri, Dave In his twilight Bernardo in the middle, Kev fully fit, Foden easing in Zinch if we get a solid left back. Who's place in the starting 11 does Gund take? Can you honestly say he is in the starting 11?
The thing is with Gundog , you’ll only know he’s not there , when , you know , he’s not actually there.
Boys a genius and if he was starting for any other team , we’d covet the fucker

There are no starting 11. But more likely than not he'll take Dave's spot.

Id say the same about Ferna personally, but I see your point, all I have said against “gundog” is that with 7 other options who I personally regard as, as good, if he doesn't sign its not the end of the world. Perhaps because I am a City fan, the only way I see things is, the second you are offered a contract for this club, surly you bite the hands off the person offering it. The fact he hasn't for me means I cant warm to him, add in the piss poor away performance at Swansea/the foxes, I just dont see it as the end of the world.

Can I ask then, if/when Sane resigns, sorts his attitude out etc, Bernardo/Foden wouldnt be better suited, work rate athleticism age etc.
60 game season, Dave 20 games Bernardo/Foden 40 in that position for me. Obvs Bernardo will also be required on the wing from time to time also. Same goes for Ferna, 20 or so games for him and 40 for Rodri

Agreed , but Ferna isn’t in the spotlight . ( Go back a couple of years etc )
A footballer like Gundogan will always divide opinions because he’s not as famous as X but he’s better than Y . He is as complete a passer as you will wish to see , can’t tackle for toffee , but a footballer that fits City .

I don't think Sane will resign. But if he does and Pep decides to start him more then sure Bernado probably gets the minutes in the middle.

But if I were to guess, I'd say Bernado still gets most of his game time wide right, even if Sane gets more starts.

Was I watching a different player? Let the guy go. Bernardo Dave Kev Phil Rodri Dino and Zinch. 7 reasons ill drop him off at the airport.
Rodri - Hasn't even signed yet and we don't know how long it will take for him to learn the system.
Fernandinho - 34 and probably has one more year, maybe two, as DM at City.
David - 33 and likely to leave after next season.
Bernardo - Pep clearly sees his best position as right wing.
Zinchenko - Plays as a midfielder for Ukraine but how often has he played there for us?
Foden - Big potential but that's all he is at the moment.

With all that in mind and the possibility of a transfer ban, to get rid of Gundogan
would be utter madness imo.

Pep likes Gundogan because he has the the ability to play both as a #6 and #8. You could say he's better as a #6 and Rodri is coming so there isn't a need, but I feel there will be games where Pep plays both Gundo and Rodri/Fern. The reason being Gundo can play as a secondary holding midfielder when required. He can drop deeper and help the #6 and can also shift mid game and go further forward if needed. Pep always says there is something about Gundo in the box. Last season against the rags. This season against Chelsea when we scored 6. His ability to gets shots off quickly in the box, much like his penalty kicks is clinical.

Very good point. Also to note with Fernandinho he is limited, he cannot progress forward as much. With Rodri and his ability to play in tight spaces and keep the ball in rotation, it will help Gündogan be more creative and have a lot more freedom. Also for KDB he will not have to drop deep, both 8s will find themselves in much better space at times and the midfield will work well as a unit. Gündogan is amazing box to box, that's why Klopp valued him so much at Dortmund.

That is a myth about dinho

It is not. Fernandinho just cannot play as well in tight spaces or against opposition with high press, defensively he will always succeed but get caught out offensively in build up or transition. So you need someone like Gündogan or KDB to drop deep and give him an out ball (or either full back in midfield). He can distribute decent enough given time and space tho, but still not that high quality. That's not a mark on his abilities, he has adapted as much as he can and so has Pep to suit the needs. With solely players like Rodri our play will be way more expansive.

Honestly, whatever you want to say with your analysis - Fern doesn't need to be better as a DM, he's had a good season being 33 and was good enough to win a couple of titles. Better leave Fern out of your equation. We love him for what he did, is and will do.

It will be more than fantastic if/when Rodri arrives but he won't play 60 matches. He will have to integrate and learn a lot of new things at City.

To answer the opening post: no. That's why nobody cares to contribute to that idea.
Better change thread title @citizen1894 ;-)

Ferdy can not play in tight spaces or against opposition with high press?? what crap is that Ferdy has lost his pace which means he picks up injuries and bookings more, but the bad news for you is he is still faster than Gundogan a necessity for a DM or a box to box as showed against Leicester and palace, Gundogan is still our worst AM and will leave next summer for a big fat signing on fee, This season we need him as we do not know how Rodri will pan out even if we can guess how

I'm not sure what you watch or where from, but you could do with getting a better stream, its true he struggled when he had Yaya alongside him, because he was expected to do far too much work, he was fine at it for most of last season, because the work was shared out across all midfields players. He gets forward very well and his passes from deep often rip defences apart.
