He's also been registered on here for sometime so no doubt he'l be in a better position to expand on this when he see's fit.

Drop me out for fuck sake zimmer, the 'prick' as you call him is far from a 'scrote' as you call him can actually string much more than a sentence together and is a very intelligent lad who has no problems articulating conversation on numerous topics be it current affairs or Manchester City football club.

Known him 30 odd years me and were with him few days ago very sound lad to boot.

Noone's twistin your arm to go purchase his book and i know he won't be arsed in the slightest bout any of you takin shots in havin sly digs behind his back, that said he won't mind 'constructive' criticism either.

As for any kind of substances he's taken in his past he's not claimin to of been angelic bout his past he's simply sharing afew of the trials and tribulations many a lad might of also gone through in years gone by.

Behind his back? - trust me he knows me and he also knows i'll tell him he's thick as pig shit to his face.

And the twisting of the arm is correct - but don't associate yourself to a brand (mcfc) and fabricate stories to sell fiction because like the rest of them 'o'neil, francis' etc it is total amplified bollocks.

So you've known him 30 years? so he's written this book without any aid? don't make me laugh, your loyalty to your mate is commendable but don't talk shite to me, its made up, you know it, i know it.
Not here to glorify owt said in his book, him talkin bout what went on in the 80's isn't exactly associating to a brand(mcfc) as you put it.

What part of it is fiction then ?

So you think he's thick as pig shit... i don't know your reason for such thought zim as that's your biz.

It's not a question of loyalty to a mate in why i responded to your post in first place, it's more to do with the like's gettin shot down before theyv'e had chance to take flight.

RE: behind his back... wasn't meant to be aimed at you personally rather the or some of the overall comments aimed his way in whole thread.

Don't know where you goin with the so he's written this book without any aid? bit ! are you suggesting it's been ghost written ?

Yes i've known him over 30 years, don't mean i know his favorite color or every bird he's shagged...i for one dint fully know the impact had on him of losing the solid rock of his life (grandmother) but i can relate to not havin day-day child access due to like's of relationships goin tits etc so i'll look forward to reading his book.

Anyways i'm not entertainin a spit n' spout here over a book, those with an open mind may find his book very interesting and them not interested don't have to flick a single page.

Im not arsed about the wrongs and rights of the book, how its written, whether its fact or bullshit. I wont be reading it anyway as I prefer to read other things

What i would say is that Benny was certainly in a position to write an account of what went on on the terraces back in those days. Unlike many of these so called hoolie book writers, many of them were barely involved, this lad was in it up to his neck. He certainly has the info first hand. Whether it turns into a readable and interesting book, I aint got a clue.

Had a quick flick through another City hooligan book in HMV the other day and was shocked at the standard of spelling and grammar. How a book like that gets published I don't know.

Hope the lad makes a few quid out of it. If it's not your scene and you have no interest don't buy it, simples.

The author of this book was better placed than the other City hooligan based writers. The wrestler has made a mint out of the Guvnor brand, he wasn't even the most respected in his family but as acquired celebrity status and money in the bank, fair play too him for that.

In the 80's it is fair to say that City didn't have the best away following in football, fans used to get themselves in a frenzy about certain grounds and teams ( current topic of Utd & Wembley spring too mind ) Whether you wanted to be involved or not, violence happened, it was part & parcel of going to the match, it was accepted as the norm, times have changed and matches have become more freindly with the introduction of all seater stadiums and CCTV.

I will purchase a copy cos I remember the author being at the forefront of City's lads, he has done time, paid the fines and suffered with his demons, other writers have glorified and exagerated the bygone days, but in terms of City Benny was more clued up than all the others combined.
