Hansen, Lawrensen and Shearer bring shame on the BBC

I'm sure it's just a total coincidence that Mario gets this shit, while such people as Rooney, Giggs, and Carroll don't. Who could possibly think otherwise?

No its not a coincidence. Its pretty simple, when watching MOTD, the basis of the football program relates to football, not extra-marital affairs, liasions with escorts, or convictions for assault. Consequently negative events in a players personal life, unless connnected with football, are not discussed nor is the player judged upon these matters.

Similarly MOTD have never mentioned Marios liaisons with an escort girl previously bedded by Rooney and quite rightly so. Nor Jermaine Pennants past indiscretions etc.

I am still waiting for clarification of the racist comments made to Mario. Offensive comments its difficult to disagree but ive heard and read similar things in relation to Mario on this forum and by City fans in real life. I wouldnt describe those comments then as racist either, just a personal opinion of a player.

Obviously, Balotelli is not bothered by this ridiculous witch hunt, that's why right after the final game of the season, he told his critics(and that's putting it mildly) to just shut up just as he did in the interview with Noel Gallagher.

There was no racist comments made about Mario but I can understand why some people believe that there were racist undertones.

Personally, I think the Beebs commentary and presentation for the Euro's was dire. The likes of Lawrenson commentating on a match that most have no option to watch is so far out of sync in what we have become accustomed to. The whole MotD set-up is aged and systematic of a jobs for the boys outfit. Anybody remember the game that got delayed due to the storm and at the end all the pundits looked as if they'd just sank 10 pints of Stella each?

The personal abuse of Mario was uncalled for and far from what I'd expect from a socially paid network. This seemed to have been rectified during the game where Mario scored his brace and I'm in no doubt it had something to do with the numerous complaints. Furthermore, Lineker's questioning of the aggressors in the subsequent game went a long way to show that the Beeb had taken this complaints seriously so they obviously felt that they had over-stepped the mark.

MotD isn't somebody's personal soap box, the sooner they learn that the better off we will be.

Or just sack the cunts, that'd also be acceptable!

That's a great post and I completely agree with the vast majority of it. The quality of the pundits is questionable, particularly when guests such as Seedorf, Vialli, Klinsmann provide such tactical nous and succinct opinions in a foreign tongue.

My personal gripe is the ‘we don’t know much about him’ comment, whenever a foreign player is signed, when you consider the wages they are paid, you would think this would involve a modicum of research.
I do think the criticism was unjustified, however in no way was it racist, and I think that’s an accusation which shouldn’t be thrown around so easily.

If memory serves me correct I think Gary Lineker described Balotelli as his favourite player, with Lawrenson and Hansen clearly not sharing the same views. Not surprisingly as Mario also splits opinion amongst City fans on this forum.

I do think Mario could do more to change perceptions if he wishes too. In my time watching football, Ive never known a player wear the shirt of a clubs closest rivals or get booked or sent off so frequently when playing upfront. I find him irritating and infuriating while marvelling at his performance against the likes of Germany. He is a mixed bag.

They're even more powerful and insightful than that, the city Internet militants. Last year they uncovered that all the referees were paid to make decisions against us, and that the whole of football, from Uefa, down to the FA, Via Sky sports, the newspapers and the BBC, were working in tandem to make sure we didn't win the league.

Im so glad we've got these guys on our side. And what an amazing coincidence that they all support city- the very club suffering all these indignities.

I also find it funny that when you disagree with them, they accuse you of being racist, a journalist spy, or the ultimate insult not a real fan. They cant accept that were just the happy go lucky type's who love every minute of being the champions of England and don't suffer from paranoia. I'll admit that there are times when we do get slated in the media that seems a little uncalled for but there are just as many times when the media and pundits offer plenty of praise on the club. Id be very interested to know what they make of the good stories???

At the end of the day most of us are fans who have no direct involvement in the running of the club, if the BBC have a case to answer then it should be representatives of the club that ask the questions not deluded/paranoid fans. The fact that the club and Mario Balotelli himself haven't done anything tells its own story.
Another poster who can't put forward an intelligent argument but resorts to insults aimed at posters who can.

Us "deluded/paranoid" fans pay the BBC licence fee and are entitled to our say. How do you know the club haven't said anything anyway? I'm willing to bet they have but it's not their style to splash things all over the media.

My apologies, I wasn't aware that a masters degree in internet posting was one of the pre-requisites of joining Blue-Moon and wow, it takes a pretty conceited person to claim authority on judging who's opinions are intelligent/unintelligent by the way?

Also, you're highly patronising statement of 'resorting to insults' whilst simultaneously insulting myself proves you may not be quite as clever as you think you are.

Anyway I'm not going to retract my statement about certain members being paranoid, that's still my opinion on the matter. I still feel if the issue was as clear as some claim it to be then the club would be forced to issue some form of public statement condemning the BBC.

However, if there is indeed a vendetta against Mario then I would be extremely interested in hearing your ideas on a solution for the 'problem'? Perhaps you could dumb it down for those of us unable to involve in intelligent discussions.

Nice rant.

Firstly, a bit of advice. If you call other people on here deluded and/or paranoid, you can expect to get it back with both barrels. If you can't take it back, don't dish it out.

Secondly, the answer to your question. Complain to the BBC. They are obliged by their charter to take complaints seriously and the more they get on a topic the more they have to react. I suspect, as others do, that the club have "had a quiet word" with the BBC like they do with the press. The more of us that do the same through their complaints procedure the better.

There is nothing embarrassing about any of that. If you have a problem with the BBC, you complain, and they react as they are required to by their charter.

Halfcenturyup has posted an excellent response already but as your post is addressed to me I'll also respond.

If I'd insulted you you'd know about it but being a mod I have to be careful. For a poster with less than 10 posts you have a really bad attitude. You don't need a degree to post on Bluemoon but you do need to observe the Code of Conduct, which asks you to respect other users and not be confrontational & aggressive. As a mod, that's my particular bugbear. There's room for all shades of opinion on here but please take isuse with the opinion and not the person or people expressing it.

Just pointing out the irony of his/her comment.

And it's the whole attitude of complaining without offering any solutions to the problem that get's me. It gives the impression that your just looking for something to moan about.

But just so I'm clear on the matter for future reference, what is the protocol on sending complaints to the BBC? Do we only defend our own players? That would be a little hypocritical wouldn't it and we may get accused of paranoia?

Do we send letters of praise to the BBC when Mario Balotelli receives a favourable review on MOTD? I think it's only fair.

Any fool can criticise, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.

Right so now you're resorting to threatening me hahaha and i'm the one with the bad attitude? The worst I have done is offer my opinion that I believe that some members are paranoid by claiming that the pundits on the BBC have a personal vendetta against City and Mario Balotelli.

I have read posts on this forum for some time, it was only this particular thread that evoked enough emotion in me to actually bother to sign up. I have been accused of being a member of the media, unintelligent and now a confrontational and aggressive person, I think I am entitled to defend myself in that situation. Maybe sarcasm has been my biggest crime, for that I apologise and will try to tone it down in future.

Perhaps as a mod you should practise what you preach regarding the code of conduct, issuing threats and insults to new members is hardly setting a good example.
