Happy 5-1 day

Was on the Kippax with my nine -year-old daughter, her first derby!!!!
She's now 42 and absolutely City daft, same as her brother and sister.
Mrs. Dobber was a rag when we got married but is now blue through and through and hates everything the rags stand for.
Just by way of interest,my great grandfather was at Hyde Road for the first game there,(was that the one which the King attended?), maybe someone could clarify that for me.

Well you are an old timer in terms of following City. ;) I'm much newer with only 11 years under my belt!

And its funny you mentioned the running bit.. After I got COVID this year.. I'm frecking exhausted. Dropped my wife's groceries the other day because the bags were too heavy.

I used to take pride at 44 I could still run 3 miles, but now, even 3 months later, I can barely run 300 meters without getting winded.

No judging here. But just out of curiosity, who did you support up until you were 33?

Wonderful as the day was i thought the last Maine Rd Derby even better. The 5 1 was against a United side which at that point had won nothing under Ferguson in spite of massive spending. The last Maine Rd Derby was against an all conquering United side who were humiliated on and off the pitch. Neville reduced to tears after a major cock up and had to live with Gary Neville is a blue chant. If not my favourite game ever certainly in my top three, even now any win against the rags fills me with joy and keeps me happy for months.
I was in Platt lane for the last ever MR derby and couldn't believe the Neville error, can still see the look of delight and anticipation on Goaters face as he strode away from the by line and, moved inside a touch before smashing the ball into the net.The place erupted and I didn't stop laughing for a week.

No one.

Was a serendipitous occurrence.

Managed to remain pitchside for whole match ...once we dealt with the unwashed in North Stand!

I was in the North Stand, only 9 so my memories are pretty faded but I remember the fighting and the feeling there were far too many people in there - people sat in the aisles I seem to remember. One of my only other memories was leaving the ground and going down a side road and there was a coach parked up full of United fans looking utterly miserable and my very mild mannered Dad gave them the two fingered salute!
