That is as it should be. Those that are good enough will get their chances, while others will have to move on.

Doesn't really make us a joke club, Real Madrid are an example of a big club who have hardly used their academy and they're probably the biggest club in the world.

It's disappointing but all of these being released simply aren't good enough. It seems like the long-term plan is to have an academy of such a high standard that we can fill the first team squad with homegrown players like Barcelona, but that sounds a long way off. The club wants to model itself on Barcelona but right now we're a lot more Real Madrid, buying what we need. Not really sustainable under FFP so our hand will be forced (maybe a good thing, about the only good thing with FFP).

But to be honest the only player who looks like he could step into regular first team action and not look out of his depth right now is Guidetti. Suarez and Rekik are great talents (Razak not too shabby either) but are only 18 and 17 and could be in the reckoning for regular first team action by the time they are 20. I hope so anyway, it'll be depressing if we end up like Madrid who have let Eto'o, Mata, Soldado, Negredo, Arbeloa (then bought him back), and Javi Garcia (all very high quality players) go and also rejected Silva.
