When Harry scored if my memory serves me right did he not have his arm in a sling?.. Do remenber it was at the score board end

We utilised three fine goalkeepers.

Don't forget Alan Ogley.

Blimey! How tall was Neil Young??

I recall Harry Dowd being one of the regular guests on Caroline Ahearn's show.... all pensioners from Blackley

Anyone know of Harry Dowd these days ?

Yeah. He lives in Baguley in Wythenshawe. My Mam and Dad know him and his wife. They used to go on The Mrs Merton Show in the audience all the time and went to Las Vegas with Caroline Ahearne when she filmed a one-off show there and Harry and Rita went with them as they lived near to Caroline's mother.

Not anymore - he's in a old folks home now. Mate of mine has a relative with alzheimers in the same home and asked me a couple of weeks back if I'd heard of a Harry Dowd who used to play for City as he's a resident there.

Just finished reading the Mercer-Allison years what a great book! From what I've read Harry was better but Kenny was up coming. Those years were brilliant if only Kidd had the lip of Allison

Does anyone know the name of the care home that Harry now resides ? As would love to get him to add his signature, if possible to the 1969 cup final programme but not sure how I would go about this

Doubt that would be possible as he's not a well man, his wife died not so long ago and at the funeral he didn't recognise anybody, my wife is best mates with his daughter, I could try for you but don't hold out much hope I'm affraid.

Alan Ogley went to Stockport pretty much at the same time we signed Mulhearn from them IIRC, it may even have been a part-ex deal.

It was a straight swap if I recall correctly.

Ogley and later Mulhearn were seen as back-ups to Harry Dowd. Mulhearn got in the team in the Championship winning season and pretty well stayed there. Harry Dowd came back next season and stayed first choice until Joe Corrigan ousted him.

Dowd was a great keeper but rather too small.

Harry was easily the best of the three (inc Alan O).

A very fine man, an excellent artist, a proper 'goalie' in the days of bare hands and old shirts on matchdays.

My fondest memory of Harry was a wonder save he made from (I think) Jimmy Gabriel of Everton in an FA cup 6th round replay in 1966... I can't remember if it was the first replay at Goodison, or the second at Molineux, but I can still see him arching his back to save an almost certain goal.

The goal against Bury with an injured wrist was hilarious. He'd been hanging about on the wing (keeping out of the way?) and suddenly popped up in front of goal. I wish I could remember his celebration - probably just jogged back to the centre!

If anyone does get to see Harry, send him all my best wishes and sincere thanks for all the great memories.
