Harry Kane

City fans are fond of saying this kind of thing but I don't think there's any truth in it at all. In fact these days when a player we're linked with gets suddenly linked to Chelsea or United, more often than not they actually end up signing for Chelsea or United.
KDB was linked with the rags about two days before we got him.
Merlin was really really linked with the rags in the days leading up to us announcing him.
Sanchez? Well that's a comedy in its self.
Maguire? Did we put a bid in for him at all?
Jorginho was the only one where we thought we'd got him and Chelsea wacked a few more noughts on.
Fred? Thank fuck he wanted money not glory.

Have I missed anyone?

City have already said they won’t be spending the figures that have been quoted on any one player, so this one is going to drag on and if we stick to our guns there will be a deal but on our terms. Tottenham need the money desperately.
From what I’ve read City have said (speculation) they ain’t paying £150m-£160m
Guess time will tell how close to that we go or don’t go.

Still feel exactly the same as I did at the start of it all: he's not leaving, we'll never pay the insane sum Levy wants for him. Seems like every single day now there's a new report just saying this exact same thing. Not sure why people are still expecting it to happen.

Shame that players like Kane (who presumably wanted a move) sign big contracts for people like Levy who they know perfectly well won't sell them. Idiocy is the word I think. He can have no complaints.

You've given me one example from ten years ago and four that back up my point. Kane is no closer to joining us than Fred, Maguire or Sanchez were.

i think that none of Kane or Haaland are the ‚ideal‘ type for narrow spaces since both need to long to turn. And the dropping deep stuff is going to be annoying for players like KDB I assume when he runs into their spaces.

Regardless of whether Kane joins City this summer, it won’t be because Spurs has to sell.

Over the past couple of pages, I’ve seen claims that Spurs have to pay back the Bank of England imminently and that the debt is growing exponentially because of the interest payable.

It’s simply not true. The £175m BoE COVID loan has been repaid after Spurs recently raised long term debt of £250m via private placement. As to the interest payable on this debt plus the stadium debt, it amounts to some £30-40m per annum. A fair chunk of money, certainly. But easily serviceable for Spurs - especially once the new stadium can start generating income again.

So if Kane is sold to City this summer - and I fully concede that it is possible - it will only be because Spurs have weighed up the pros and cons of keeping or selling a talismanic player who wishes to leave (no doubt about that!). The amount offered will have to be sufficient, in Levy’s opinion, to enable Spurs to rebuild and grow stronger.

Nothing else will influence the decision. It is decidedly not about Spurs being in dire financial straits.
They try to furlough staff , they are broke

In fairness, you'd think if Kane is dropping very deep then either:

a) He's being told to do that.
b) He's not, in which case Pep could say, "Harry, stop it" and he would.

All this in the media was the same with bale if you look it up how it played out..
