Harry Kane

I don't think anybody is suggesting he wouldn't sign for City if he couldn't have number 10 that would of course be ridiculous. However this has been months in the making, he decided ages ago he wanted City, Villa have just admitted the Grealish deal was done ages ago too as buendia was a replacement and they signed him what seems like a year ago. So they'll have been talks between both going way back and these kind of things do get discussed. The multiple golden boot winning striker and England captain would surely get first dibs at the number 10 over grealish.

It obviously doesn't mean he's definitely not signing, kane may not give a shit about numbers and Grealish desperately wanted it, maybe he does and City simply choose to give it to Grealish or maybe there's any number of reasons for it. none of us know but I don't think its illogical to see it as a potential indication to how things might pan out.

Seems to me like 10 would be reserved for Messi then Kane then Grealish in that order.

I don't think number 10 matters for Kane. He's number 9 for England and I assume he has first choice there

Kane's not going to risk destroying his reputation at Spurs and go on strike only to back down over a shirt number. We could give him the vacant #1 shirt (if that's allowed) and he'd take it if it meant sealing the transfer.

Besides, if he got that pissy they could change it in the summer next year.

Traditional 1-11 numbers don't seem to matter too much at City anyway, I mean look at the list of players we have outside that range.

I simply do not see the evidence that Levy is a willing seller. He says, for what it is worth, in the press he is not. You claim that Kane will be unhappy if the deal collapses. Maybe? So what? He’ll have to get on with it. If he really wanted to go he would’ve have signed the contract. And the so called gentlemen’s agreement? What evidence is there that it exists? What did it say? The deal is obviously still probable but it feels increasingly flakey.
You certainly won't find any evidence in my post that Levy is a willing seller because I've never argued that he is. He's certainly said that he doesn't want to sell Kane but that's a statement of a wish, not an inflexible statement of intention. In his interview Levy did not promise Spurs that Kane would not be sold but simply that the decisions taken would be in the best interests of the club. These interests may change in the face of real offers of hard cash. He may be a reluctant seller but he may well come round to seeing a sale as the est and only viable outcome. Your assertion that Kane will "just have to get on with it" sounds good when you're trying to put forward a couldn't care less, tough guy attitude but it's laughable when you're commenting on an area of life where man management and motivation are of crucial importance. It looks very much as though relations between Kane and Levy are as bad as they can get and that Kane most certainly will not "just get on with it." Levy is actually responsible for the day-to-day running of the club and he will be more sensitive to its needs than your rather crude caricature of him suggests. As for the gentleman's agreement, Kane appears convinced that it is real and, again, dismissing it as of no significance is ignoring one of the great causes of hostility and bitterness. Kane's sense of betrayal is a key element in this affair.

Have you noticed the price of fuel has gone up recently, every time you fill your car up is contributing to Harry’s transfer fee :)

My original point was that I can’t see Kane and Haaland working in a team together amongst all the other talent at Peps disposal without upsetting one of them, they both want to be the main man with a team built around them IMO … it’s not the worst dilemma to have tho I suppose.
Oy fuckin raggie, get your own fucking monika.
