Harry Kane

You can see why they're looking at so many English players. City is a final destination for all of them. In a post Brexit, Covid world, it is probably wise.

Yea what hit that home was the amount of players congratulating Grealish on this move on his social media pages. Seems like City is now the bayern of England where English talents want to play. Also the fact Villa tried to get Grealish to go elsewhere but he only wanted City. Same with Kane. Saka left a comment saying congrats on the massive move which pissed arsenal fans off

Saka next please!

You don’t know that. In fact journalists who people on this forum take as being very well informed said we were. We also were linked with other strikers last summer. It wasn’t jusy Kane. We were linked with Haaland over a year ago already. Think all you want that Kane has been “the one all along”. This isn’t what the evidence shows. I am more willing to buy the theory that he has been more seriously considered this time for “having chosen us” or whatever. That at least make more sense
I don't think it made much sense to buy a striker when Aguero was on the books and we needed central defenders

Oh yes, Pep started a very elaborate plan to sign a striker four years ago with a comment in a press conference. Makes sense
Why do you think Kane is so desperate to come here over anywhere else? It’s not just the success that is more likely but knowing that he’s going to play for a manager who is the best ever and has admired him for years.
Long term planning. We didn’t need to sign him in 2017 when we had aguero still at the back end of his prime.

I'm sure Haaland will go on to be an amazing player. But there'll be others and the truth is football is a team game. One player will not win you everything. Hell, Messi's few years at Barcelona are proof of that.
I don't rate him as highly as everybody else

But yeah, one man teams don't exist.

Remember when Raz was asked why his England form was so much better than for City and he replied there are many reasons for that?

I think he meant he wasn’t playing with a Striker anymore and there was more pressure on him to score than create.

With a striker like Kane in the team he will have less pressure and as a result score and create more. What was that name again he links up so well with for England? ;-)

Yet again, you've pointed out the difference of teams they've played for. Also no one calls Harry the greatest Prem striker, but he is Prem's best striker right now, has been for a few seasons. To undermine that is just ignorance. His records speak for himself, and the fact that Pep wants him so badly is enough indication of how highly he's rated by professionals. You're strawmanning a bit here by listing Lewa, totally not the point, and Lewandowski is world class.

Vardy's level is at Leicester, and he's not even in the conversation. We can definitely discuss how Prem is the most competitive league and the ultimate test for any player. Fwiw, Haaland couldn't do anything when he played us, so not sure where your argument of Kane doing nothing against us holds up, we're just that good. The whole point is to say he isn't generational neither is he world class, he's a very good striker still, but to put him on levels of Aguero, Kane, Suarez, Lewa is just jokes. He's below, I'd say well below. In future obviously, has the potential to become great, reach newer heights, but till he does that I'd avoid putting massive labels on him.
Listen, I’m not continuing this argument with you, but you must have watched different City vs Dortmund games. All you have to do is go back to Haaland thread the days of those games and see the reactions here. That wasn’t “hype”. You can also see the way Pep spoke about him after both games. He had good performances. And of all the teams he faced at the UCL with Salzburg and Dortmund, we are the only one he didn’t score against. But again, neither did Neymar and Mbappe with PSG. And you know who else never scores against us? Kane.
I’m assuming Havertz is a better player than Haaland, Neymar, Mbappe and Kane if that’s the standard.

Then why did Pep talk to Werner on the phone last summer to convince him to join us and not Chelsea?
