Harry Kane

This probably explains why
That is seriously bad

He has a clause in his contract for next summer, that is public knowledge. That's not speculation.

There seems to be an arrogance that we can just snap our fingers next season and sign Haaland.

United have shown that they can blow us out of the water when it comes to transfer fees and wages. In recent seasons they’ve signed, Maguire, Sanchez, Fred and Fernandes who we were all strongly linked to.

That’s without mentioning the likes of Madrid, Bayern and PSG who will be closely monitoring the situation.

It appears that City’s style is to get the player to agree terms, only have eyes for City and then deal with the club. Haaland’s camp on the other hand seem keen on keeping all of his options open and having a bidding war for his services.

For me, giving up the chance to sign Kane this season on the off chance we can get Haaland next season is pure stupidity.

If Levy refuses to sell, that’s a different matter and we should then go all out for Haaland next summer. But deliberately not signing Kane and then missing out on Haaland next summer would be a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

I changed careers in my early 40’s and would highly recommend the same to anyone who isn’t enjoying what they do for a living, if it’s at all possible of course - because sometimes it isn’t. Life’s too short and your working day takes up too much of your life to let it make you unhappy if you can possibly avoid it.

I would second this, I have been lucky enough to be in the same industry doing similar roles (different levels of seniority obviously) since leaving uni, 26 years later and I still live every day. If you don’t like what you do, change it so you are doing something you enjoy - as you say life is too short to deal with shit you don’t like.

Throughout the thread I acknowledge that a move for Haaland would mean deferring for a year, certainly at this point anyway. I just think he's worth doing so.
Worth waiting a whole summer with no number 9 and then chasing Haaland when he'll have 25 options, and most definitely opt for one that's the best package for him and his father/Raiola. Is it really worth risking a title challenge? To then also not end up with a player like that? You have to take into account what we could lose out on for the season.

where do you get the confidence that after we waited for a year, we approach haaland next summer and he ends up signing for us? What if we wait a year and madrid offers him twice as much, because he's now available for 75m?
