There’s a reason why Dortmund were able to attract the likes of Bellingham, Haaland and Sancho when they were competing with top European sides for their signatures.

They are an agents dream. Agents know that sending top talent to Dortmund will ensure a lucrative move down the line. Lucrative means for all parties as in club, player and agent. I think people underestimate how important agents are in Dortmund’s transfer policy.

If Dortmund force Haaland out of the club this summer against his wishes, and in the process the agent and the player lose out on tens of millions, it will definitely damage their relationship with the agent.

Dortmund have shown with the Sancho saga that they a willing to make a smaller profit on a player if it benefits the team.

Keeping Haaland for another season makes Dortmund a much stronger side and boosts their chances or reaching the CL, they still make a huge profit on him next season and the agent and player make even more money. Everyone wins in that scenario.
