Harry Kane

Spurs fan here, do you guys reckon you'll pay up? Been reading the thread for the past couple days, and I'm praying you guys pay up so that we can rebuild and focus on some quality incomings. The report of £150m bid sounds like a promising breakthrough in negotiations if true, and should get done.
Hows it going Fredo? Here you are "behind enemy lines". Yes, I think we'll pay; 135 million plus add-ons = 150.

Depends what you mean. He’ll still probably use Torres through the middle at times, simply because he needs to give them all game time, but if Kane does come, we’ll be more orthodox.
I was thinking more about the Porto final and the game last weekend when he tinkered and fucked us over.. it’s in his DNA I think and Kane coming won’t change that

He's managed 31 goals a season for 7 years in a shite Spurs side, so I'd be stunned if he only managed 60 in 3 years here.

Expect him to be pushing 50 this season. I really don't think some fans grasp how many chances we create or waste - let alone penalties.
That is why it would be good if he could play for us against Arsenal. I really hope we can get him. And this guy can even score from distance, he doesn't have to be 5m from the goal, does he?.

Yeah good luck with that. Classic Levy tactic. Delay as long as possible so that there's no time to spend any of the money. And then next summer just say "What £150m? I didn't see any £150m. Did anyone else see £150m?"

But to answer your question, yes I think we'll pay in one way or another.

If it's £150 million, I suspect that the £150 million will be including add ons.
I reckon 85m straight up plus 10m a year over 5 years plus the rest made up in add ons totalling 150m.
The hold up is obviously the haggling over the structure of how much to pay up front/add ons/etc as I think he's good to go with the contract we've offered.
Him not travelling can only mean one thing and that is that he's leaving and soon.

I very much want to sign Harry Kane, but I also very much don’t want us to give levy what he is looking for, and on balance I’d rather not get Harry Kane than give that smug **** what he wants. Don’t think it does our future any good to be seen to cave in, leave the arrogant **** with an unhappy asset if he asks for anything more than £130m, then put the phone down on the ****

So it’s been..
“City value Kane at £100m”
“£120m is our maximum”
“City will go to £130m”
“£130m plus addons to take it to £150m”
And finally “£150m to start negotiating”
The whole thing is ridiculous.
We pay that and we’re stupid, not only do I not think he’s worth that, I don’t personally want him even at £100m, but the impact that would have on future negotiations would be huge.
Up till now we’ve always walked away from players we deem not to be fair value, we pay the extortionate asking price and some future deals become much more harder cos the clubs with hang tight expecting us to pay up.
I’d rather go into the season with Jesus, Torres and Delap.
We might not win fuck all, but for me that’s the better option long term, more stable for the club’s future.
There’s no guarantees we sign Kane and win everything anyway.
Sure a new striker improves our chances, but at what cost?

I agree it sets a dangerous precedent. Some may not care as long as we get a striker but what happens when we need our next DM or a LB? Clubs will just hold their hand out and say more money please. Personally I think this whole thing has become a farce and I’d like us to walk away on principle even if that means we don’t win anything this season.

I’d rather we use some of the millions to send scouts to every corner of the world to find a younger promising striker than bend over for Levy.

Not worth £150m in my view. I’d offer £50m and try and give your **** of a chairman a heart attack
