Harry Kane

Erm...right...heard a little bit of info. As always, the disclaimer: there's always a chance info could be wrong, but once again, I trust the person who told me as they work within the game, and they've told me loads before correctly.

They messaged me on Saturday morning saying that they've heard that City want Kane, yes, obviously, but key bit is not as much as Pep personally wants Kane and Pep is very much the driver behind the move. The catch is now apparently that the club would prefer a 'project' striker like Vlahovic.

That's all I've heard. I've don't know the reasoning, so all I can do is my guess - i'd say maybe it's the price? Kane at a reasonable price? Sure? At the numbers quoted? Nah, Vlahovic.

Sorry if that's just a repeat of what is already out in the world, or not - I hand on heart don't know as I'm 100% not really sure where we're up to with this Kane stuff as I've been away and intensely busy personally for the last few days! I was getting married when that message came through heh.

As always, just passing it on in good faith to you guys. Fuck knows what will happen. If it's true though that it's mainly a Pep thing, it doesn't really fill me with joy regarding the Kane chances, but who knows I guess.

With the rumoured valuations of £150 million for Kane and £70 million for Vlahovic, you could argue that both are overpriced by at least £30 million.

I understand that Vlahovic is the exciting 'Championship Manager signing', but £70 million for someone who has had one decent season in Italy is crazy money. It's even crazier when you consider better, more proven strikers have been sold this summer for a fraction of the price.

I'd rather we just give Delap a chance rather than spend that sort of money on an unknown quantity.

My guess is that Pep has a hard on for Kane's passing and playmaking abilities. Not just his scoring.
But if we can't get him and he's ruled out every other striker in Europe then what do we do ?

All this talk about Haaland or Mbappe or Messi not wanting us seems untrue when it's being rumoured pep won't even look at anyone else. I think we are cutting our noses off here

Always kinda felt like Pep was the driver here, he absolutely loves Kane as a player and a professional. From the club's perspective, this deal at the prices being touted just doesn't make all that much sense. It's all risk, no resale value and astronomical valuation.

Part of me has always felt the Aguero replacement should have always been a project signing, signifying the end of one era to the next.

Once Kane gave that interview to Neville this deal was always going to happen. Since that point its always been about how much Spurs can extract from City. Forget the gentleman's agreement nonsense, why would you sell to the worlds richest club for anything less than the absolute maximum? You don't offer discounts to willing buyers if they have the money.

we have a project striker in the academy though so we need a ready made striker now...thats my take on it anyway

It's good to see the club backing Pep on this because I still think Kane is enough of a project to warrant going big for him. He's coming into his peak and yet has scored 216 goals in 310 games since he truly established himself as Spurs' main man in 14/15.

He could easily score 30-40 and assist another 10 goals for us a season. If we win the league and/or the CL in the next couple of years thanks to his performances then the fee will be irrelevant. If he was 34 I could understand our reluctance, but you're talking about a player entering their prime as a striker and a club without a prolific goalscorer. He's had a few injuries but his record speaks for itself and doesn't look compromised. We'll manage him better than Spurs did as well.

If Lukaku cost £100m then Kane for £20-30m more is solid business because Kane's record is miles better. I truly believe if he had a foreign name or a floppy hairdo or if he had a bit more personality about him we'd all be desperate for this to come off.

he probably wants to win cl before he leaves in 2 years and thinks with kane he will be able to do it
should of picked a better team last time we were in the cl final then,

we've backed him all the way, if we don't get kane because of the silly money wanted then i hope we do get a younger promising player, pep isn't stupid he will understand .

We cant spend any more than anyone else , there are rules and we are the most investigated club in history , whether we have a rich owner it doesnt matter as he hasnt put money in for a long time and is not allowed too, there is a reason why we dont spend like the rags do every summer
