Harry Kane

What we know didn't work is this system against Tuchel's Chelsea but there was no other option but to carry on playing it. We have seen this over the years losing to some teams 2/3 times the same season. It happened with Wolves a few years back, Liverpool, Spurs, and most recently Chelsea which ultimately cost us the CL. We need a plan B and when you have a weak position (in our case a striker now, previous years a CB) it is a problem. We lost to Tuchel's Chelsea last season, in the same manner, each time.
Agreed. Pep has been here for 5 full seasons and each season has been so different from what came before. I read an article some time back on The Athletic which explained how we were pressed less and attacked more slowly last season than ever before. It was quite a stark comparison.

With more teams having a proper pre season this time around and less congested schedules, can be afford to be as slow as last season? Can we pick apart an elite team playing 5 at the back without the presence and qualities that a pure striker affords? I doubt so. The system will have to change. We will have to increase our intensity back to pre-2020 days to match the work rate of other teams. I have my doubts that a false 9 with Torres or Sterling up top will work across a full league season again.

This saga could be sorted one way or the other quite quickly. Put in a transfer request Harry & publicly show your intent.

Harry trying to protect his Spurs legacy hasn't worked, so it's time he shit or got off the pot. It worked for Fernandinho.

I used to think that this was a greed issue to do with bonuses but I had a conversation with someone a few years back who is more acquainted with these contracts and it makes sense for a player not to do it.

If a player puts in a transfer request then they automatically lose access to bonuses no matter what happens. So it's very likely that Kane would put in this request, lose millions of pounds, and Levy still refuse to sell. Most of the time a transfer request is a symbolic statement and that symbol is often pointless.

Absolute rubbish. You think City can be as successful as they have been by worrying about the superstar status of a player not his skill and ability. Ings’ injury record and inability to go a full season without a major injury more than likely played a part

Well he's got more goals than our forwards this season have,so we shall see if the absolute rubbish statement comes into play eh

That's actually pretty interesting. Never considered it before.

To be honest, I don't think any journalist knows anything about what's going in city right now.
I thought Sam Lee on the 93:20 podcast yesterday was about as honest on this as he can be. Noises from City management, and the squad, are positive. The club have everything ready to when needed. Noises from Spurs are less positive. He's convinced that City are going to put a final, good offer in, can't say for sure, and is basing that basically on a logic of "well, how couldn't they? Why wouldn't they?" Everyone else is reading and extrapolating based on the same noises. That's all we, or anyone, knows right now.

More a case of city competing for titles and valuing 'certainty' over 'risk'. This has always been a quandary. I don't think it's a new phenomenon. The guy with a proven track record always costs more than potential.

Replacing Aguero was always gonna be a difficult one,but if it had been Ings,it would, and like I say,not necessarily from me looked upon as a downgrade, harsh but true

Expressing a wish to leave is a basic human right. If an employer decided to dock me of my bonuses, albeit I carried on working to the best of my ability & fully contributed to the efforts that led to the success, I'd be fuckin pissed & I think the employer would have a serious contractual issue on his hands.

It's not as if asking to leave is a breach of contract??? Perhaps others with more legal expertise could chip in & clarify???
