I’m not privy to our dealings and so I don’t know how aggressively we actually pursued him, but it seemed very one sided and any approach was shut down. Newcastle, whilst minted, still seem to be reasonable and they’ll have the same reservations as we do, so paying north of 100m for 29yo does not make financial sense and evidentially Levy won’t answer the phone for anything less. So unless we can’t get Haaland and decide to go balls deep on Kane, I don’t see him going anywhere.

If Kane is ambitious and wants to play in Europe and win trophies, Newcastle isn’t the right place for him. With a couple of decent signings, there is a chance of them winning a domestic competition, but I can’t see them achieving a European slot in the next 2 season and by then he will be 30.
Not in two years, they’ll be competing top 4, then the real investment begins, he could be the spearhead and rewarded accordingly…
Competing for top 4, in the sense Wolves and West Ham compete for top 4, but ultimately end up nowhere near 4th.
