We wanted Van Persie, for the same reason we want Kane, age doesn’t matter when you’re as lethal as them. He also turns 28 in a few weeks, I know it sounds better quoting him as older. We didn’t win the European cup though, maybe that was the missing link? Maybe it got telling that teams that prepared for the false 9 faired very well against us in the end. It was a great tactic, should never be plan A though. We want a striker, Khaldoon said we want a striker, yet you know best.

For £150m which would you prefer?

A) kane (5 year contract)
B) nuno mendes, camavinga & Alexander Isak. (5 year contract)

Some might say kane, but another opinion is its a lot of cash. Cash that could be better used in the squad. Also its highly reasonable to question that kane can last longer than 2 years, meaning 3 years taking up massive wages for being a sicknote.
