Harry Kane

I wasn’t talking about mentality, I was talking about brand. Sure, I guess it’s commendable that he has been loyal to Tottenham, but wanting to leave to win trophies sort of tarnishes that. I wouldn’t have held it against him if he had decided years ago to be ambitious and pursuit a different team with a bigger chance of winning titles, in fact I like ambitious players. And I was pretty clear on the other post that I think the lack of titles is a sort of issue because he’s an older player. Haaland is much younger.
I do prefer Lukaku to Kane, but that is subjective, so if you disagree, it’s fair
So a fool is always right? Thanks!

Are you really comparing a 20 yo player with a 28 yo player? Experience goes a long w
I'm not comparing their ages/experience but the fact is,right now,Kane is far much better than Haaland. Only thing that Haaland has going for him now is his age,and the potential is there, that's why he is hot property.
My issue is the narrative that Haaland is the messiah to all of our striking issues and that Kane is some one-season wonder bum.
The expectations on Haaland are starting to get a bit unrealistic. He could go on and be the best of his generation, but at the moment,he is still very raw and frustrating, and still has a lot to work on
My point is and was,Kane is as much of a guarantee of goals there is in Europe right now,and not to feed into the 'PL is harder than..' the fact is strikers find it much harder than others to adapt to the physicality and pace of the league
(case in point,Werner speaking about the transition from the BuLi to the PL),and whilst we might go on and sign Haaland,we would be buying more of his potential and that imo Kane is more ready,in his peak and more complete,at the moment.

I don’t think anyone here is claiming either that Haaland is the messiah or that Kane is a one-season wonder. I follow the threads and I see nothing of sorts here.
Signing Kane is easy, like you are claiming. You bring him and he scores goals. But you pray he and his knee can physically hold it together and in two years already start to think about bringing someone else.
There is no doubt that at 20 years old Haaland is still raw, like nearly every player at the same age. But you’re talking about him as if all he has is potential. He is a reality in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. And we have the best coach in the world, precisely the right coach for him, like he was the perfect coach for a number of players (Messi, Kimmich, our Foden, many others). Listen to the way Pep talked about him in the aftermath of both Dortmund matches. Pep usually works better when he has a lot to work on players rather than getting them ready.
The Werner example is actually a good example of what I mentioned above. Tuchel is a great manager for him. He has already drastically improved from the Lampard days and his next season is when he will probably explode. It was a smart signing and a player Pep too wanted last summer. Unlike what you said, the transition from the Bundesliga is probably historically the smoothest to the PL.
This isn’t a popular opinion here because most people don’t frequently watch Inter, but if you want to bring in a more ready, experienced player, Lukaku right now is in sensational form in one of the most spectacular European teams this season (despite the UCL flop). He too “knows the PL”. Same age as Kane and less injuries. And for obvious reasons, his partnership with KdB would likely be explosive. I’d have him second after Haaland and ahead of Kane, who would probably be third. But as I’ve said, I think both Kane and Lukaku would be above what the club would be willing to spend on a player with no potential for global commercial returns. I could be wrong though. We’ll see

If we do want him I really can’t see us getting this deal over the line with Levy. He’s in a very strong position this window, and the money he will demand will be eye watering.

Kane was outstanding last night. Shame about his injury. He was a few inches from scoring a perfect hattrick and his looping header for what would have been the third was outrageous.

It’s Haaland for me too. Kane would score 30+ easily for us, but the age and lack of resale value is an issue imo, maybe not now but in 2/3 years time we’re starting to think about replacing him again. And he might not be injury prone but it always seems to be his ankles?
Precisely that. I agree with those saying Kane is currently the better player, but the above are points of fact. It’s not inconceivable that we wouldn’t see the best of Haaland for a couple of seasons and as with Leroy, there will be teething trouble. But it’s just as likely he’ll hit the ground running and score with the same regularity he has over recent seasons; matters of opinion.

edit: wouldn’t mind if we got either though.
