Harry Kane

Haaland’s wage demands would be a huge sticking point for us whereas Kane’s wouldn’t. The problem with the Kane deal will be the fee I believe.

Both will have similar wage expectations. Both are a similar fee.

Short of a COVID resurgence shutting down stadiums or football altogether for another 2-3 years (in which case, pretty much every club on the planet will go bust), why would that happen?
Spurs won't go financially bust with levy in charge definitely. They WILL sacrifice the football, the style, the chance to break away from being Spursy.

Good question.

It depends on the player, really. Luka Modric was desperate to join Chelsea in 2011 but Levy refused to sell. Modric went on to have an outstanding season before joining Real Madrid the following summer.

Kane, likewise, is desperate to join City this summer. My guess is that, if denied that opportunity, he will also act professionally. He has too much personal ambition and pride to waste a season by sulking or refusing to play or train to his utmost.

On the flip side, I could ask whether you would sell arguably the best all round striker / creator in the world; a home grown player; a talisman; the England captain; for less than you believe him to be worth when he still has 3 years remaining on his contract? That will be Daniel Levy’s stance.
Definitely a fine balancing act and mutually acceptable ground needs to be found.
Kane is the ultimate professional according to his peers etc. but i also think at his stage, and given the enormous loyalty he has shown already, even his patience would be severely tested if he wasn't allowed the opportunity to fulfil his ambition and cement his standing in the game.

I think Levy also needs to take into account blocking big moves for his players can turn away potential signings in the future.

Take Haaland for example, he went to Dortmund knowing full well they’d give him first team football and sell him to a better team when the right offer comes in. The same with Bellingham.

Levy has a reputation and won’t sell his players if he wants to keep them, even if they want out. Without being disrespectful, no talented young player (unless a fan) is going to look at Tottenham and think they want to stay there forever with the current set up.

If players are kept against their will it will definitely turn away potential signings in the future. Why sign for Tottenham and be stuck there when you can sign for clubs like Dortmund, Inter, Atletico or Benfica? All clubs who are willing to sell players for the right price.

The issue is Tottenham want to act like a club who win trophies year in year out… but they don’t.

I want both transfers, Kane and Jack, to happen, would be a huge statement of intent, but I would like them to be both cheaper than is being quoted. Now that would piss a lot of none Blues off.
At around £130m for Kane the only pissing that’ll be being done will be from laughing.

Kane isn't captain. ;-)

I think I more or less answered your question in my last post. Modric was desperate to join Chelsea in 2011. He wasn't allowed to. So he stayed and had a brilliant season before joining Real Madrid the following summer.

It's up to those that matter at Spurs to determine how Harry would react to being denied the chance to join City this summer. If they think that he would maintain his standards despite his disappointment (and everything that I know about him suggest that he would), then why wouldn't they keep him?
In terms of the modric analogy, reading between the lines that's where Kane was last year but stayed under the proviso or "gentleman's agreement" that he would be allowed to go now

He does appear to, although the last one was about Jorginho joining...
Not doubting his info or sincerity, but just shows the twists and turns transfers can take.

To be fair both Jorginho and his agent proved to be pathological liars....
