For £25m though? He guarantees maybe only 10 fewer goals than Kane guarantees this season. Are those 10 extra goals worth an extra £125m? In terms of value, Danny Ings in hindsight was an excellent signing. I didn’t see it at the time because I was fixated on Haaland and then Kane. But that value for money, and buying us time to bring Delap through, wouldn’t have been the worst deal in the world. Get the ball to him in the box and he scores, it’s as simple as that!

You're bang on here regarding Ings ability to put the ball in the net. I would have loved to have signed him as an option and still gone for Kane as first choice. I genuinely thought most City fans felt he'd be a good signing, didn't know there was a pushback against it.

What we know didn't work is this system against Tuchel's Chelsea but there was no other option but to carry on playing it. We have seen this over the years losing to some teams 2/3 times the same season. It happened with Wolves a few years back, Liverpool, Spurs, and most recently Chelsea which ultimately cost us the CL. We need a plan B and when you have a weak position (in our case a striker now, previous years a CB) it is a problem. We lost to Tuchel's Chelsea last season, in the same manner, each time.

Not saying having Kane would stop us from losing because that would be ridiculous, we can't win everything but it is how we respond to teams that have our number and I just think that having something "different" might help to provide other options other than the 4-3-3 that we usually rely on.

Purely based on not being a fashionable name I'd say,although that doesn't mean my perception,but I will add that where we are today,"bigger names " are welcomed more.

Back in the day Ings would have been a great signing,but these days we are looking at,or should I say pissing about with others,more superstat factor.
