Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

a couple of quid? I have my thermostat set to 16'c which is way lower than usual and it cost me £4 before I even got down stairs this morning.

we're hitting £7/8 a day at the moment and thats while trying to conserve. when it gets proper cold out we'll be topping £15 a day easy.

Our deal ran out just as the prices sky rocketed so we're on a standard variable rate.

Would it not be cheaper to turn it on, only when needed ?

I’ve had it on about 3 times these last few weeks for a couple hours each time , warmed up the house and cost about £1/2

FFS a modern boiler has automatic frost protection. You don’t need your heating permanently on to protect your pipes.

I note that virtually every type of central heating control including the one you mention together with wifi security is also available these days.

Many thanks for your info though.

Thats what im doing. Stick it on for an hour to take the edge off. If it gets chilly before bed i stick a blanket over me legs.

Hate getting in bed in a hot bedroom, much rather it be chilly and get warm under the covers

what about water pipes elsewhere in the house ? I had a house in Stretford briefly and the house was cold with only electric fires. The downstairs loo had zero heating and the cistern and pipes all froze. I never used this room and whilst at work a thaw occured. The damage was amazing ...
