Has Manchester lost too many of it's old pubs in town

Always liked the Bridge Tavern on Bridge Street, Friday nights was 80's disco night, decent beer, gets a bit packed but had a nice atmosphere and the music was (mostly) good and the DJ takes requests, always a good laugh. It even had a small dance floor at the front if that was your thing! Not been since lockdown so I hope this place is still going.

when i think back to the amount of boozers there used to be on ashton new road and around the etihad, it's a crying shame

That pub is a shithole, no great loss tbh.

Always full of knobheads causing trouble.

Yeah I stopped going in regulary after the refurb years ago mainly as the beers on offer were very pricey for the time compared to other boozers round there.

Was a decent boozer decades ago tbf and ok for a quick pint, but not one of my go to pubs.

Still a shame to lose another pub in town

Anybody ever go to a pub called the Grapes, which I'm pretty sure was on Deansgate? Used to go in there sometimes with my stepfather before matches. Once or twice even went to Old Trafford with him after lunching there (gulp, will I be banned from BM now?).
It was a curious place, because it had a public footpath actually running right through it.
I'm talking about donkeys years back, now.

Cracking place that, they do some really interesting beers.

It’s not closed has it? I was in there only a couple of months ago.
Pretty sure it’s still going mate, just thought I’d mention it on here, although I’m not a big drinker, you’re right it does have quite a few interesting drinks, but I just love it for the ambience .

Old Grapes used to be just off Quay St, owned by Corrie's Vera Duckworth at one time. Would be en route to old trafford so possibly the one?
