He's always been quite single-minded, or at least has been since he's came to England. He likes to have plenty of touches on the ball, to drive straight at the defence regardless, to find the most direct route to goal...regardless of whether it's the most sensible choice. He'll shoot when there's other options open, or he'll try and dribble past three players despite there being less than a yard of space, but that's just who he is. He has that belief in his game that he can be a matchwinner at any moment, that he can turn things around when the team needs him. That comes with problems as well as benefits, but it's a valuable trait and one that's led to him making the difference in big game after big game.
If you take that quality away from his game you'll lose the quality that makes him a top player. He's got awareness, vision and intelligence in his play, but not to the extent that makes him great as an individual, IMO. This does. Sometimes it can be a hindrance to team play, and incredibly frustrating to watch him just get his head down and try to bulldoze past players with impressive but in the end futile close control and direct dribbling, but over the course of a season it'll show itself be hugely beneficial.
Basically, I don't think it's anything new, and I don't think it's anything to worry about. It's just exacerbated when the team don't quite click and he goes on a one-man attack with nothing to show for it in the end, like today.
