Has the BBC become a Tory tool?

Haven't watched MOTD in years if I do it's MOTD 2 as there's much less waffle + better segments like 2 Good 2 Bad and all highlights are in an 1 hour condensed window.

Do not miss pundits like "Wrighty", Shearer, Lineker etc making the same tired jokes & observations week in week out. Highlights on Sky Sports YouTube page an hour after games & City extended highlights are much better viewing in my experience.

I think you could well be inadvertently belittling it yourslef, with that reach. And he compared it to 1930s not to 40s, so you (and others that have rushed to that) are the ones linking the two, not him.

It IS the same language, that's the point. And has been for a while. Pointing that out is not necessarily suggesting that what came to pass in Germany a decade after such language was used is in any way likely to happen here, nor is it trivialising what such language ultimately led to. I welcome anyone pointing that out, be it a guy at the pub, someone at the bbc, or footballing pundit i don't normally have time or love for.

Whatever the interpretation (semantic philosophical, political or whatever) of his comment though, the issue here isn't whether you or I agree or disagree with him. It is whether the BBC under pressure from the governemt have the right to stop him making it or not.

I dare guess btw that neither of us two would have even known he made it had it not been turned into fuss news by the bbc.
Are you sure you know what happened in 1930s Germany. I'm not sure you do judging by that statement, in all fairness.

Incidentally, The USA's stance and rhetoric in recent times has also repeatedly been compared to that of 1930s Germany. On a much larger scale. Because it, like that of the UK government, is very similar.
True but the question you need to ask yourself is why didn't Lineaker choose that analogy, a modern day one that peopel can eadily compare, rather than the deliberately contentious 1930s Germany one.

Whenever I get a US stream I'm usually impressed with Robbie Earle, is engaging and provides actual insight. Nedum speaks brilliantly too.

Our main representative in the media is Micah, he is a blue .. ... But he's lightweight, comic relief and as a result there's no weight given to his views. It doesn't help that like Joleon, he doesn't challenge the red shirt narrative. Micah could do worse than take a leaf out of Ian Wright's book who has matured into a mostly reasonable guy.

Her voice might be blast from the Sweeney, but Emma Hayes is a good tactical analyst.

In the UK after years of dumbing down with almost exclusively red shirts, we are where we are. At least tonight there'll be no Stephen Warnock in Primark glasses there to make sure Smith look balanced!

Huge own goal for the BBC, they've massively mis-judged this one.

Fair play to all of the pundits and presenters.

The pundits and presenters are doing nothing more than what is right for their careers here, let’s get that straight.

Anyone seen to be crossing the imaginary picket line will get dogs abuse and they know it and it is that fact that is forming their stances here rather than any desire to show solidarity to Gary.

This will be tomorrows chippy paper soon enough as it always is and there will be no shortage of presenters lining up to fill his shoes if he doesn’t come back.

We're a politically charged, toxic nation filled with people who are quick to portray others as evil and themselves as bastions of moral courage.

Everyone needs to calm the fuck down.

Actually the opposite is true.

Most people in the UK are completely unaware of what is going on.

In truth politicians of any hue should be called out by anyone with a voice when they are deemed to have crossed a line.

Just who draws that line is for each individual to decide.

I don’t mind a bit of Lineker and co talking shite on a Saturday night. All harmless and definitely not anti City. Not sure where people get that impression from?
Glass or red in hand, football on telly, feet up, no work in the morning. Perfect (unless City have lost).
Too many want constant and instant gratification.

This.
Shame so many Twitter trolls will casually slag off every pundit and presenter but they’ve really stood up to the plate principally on this one and are putting their jobs on the line
