Has the BBC become a Tory tool?

So tomorrow night, no presenters, and no pundits, just more football.

Seems like win win to me, I rarely watch the biased shit these days, but I might watch tomorrow (though our result will be the biggest influence).

As the thread title says "ignoring the lineker stuff", so please take any political bollocks to a different thread.
The notion that the programme was just about the football has never been a corner stone since it began. When it started the predominant team was Tottenham - beautiful football - but fans wanted to see their own team a little more often. And then it morphs into a Dipper and Rag festival where the good of the game never gets to be centre stage, and the interests of other teams are ignored. I think it might remain in the 'new format' for a few weeks until somebody writes in and suggests it was much better with Danny Muppet and assorted ex-pros from M16 and L4!

Then why are you saying the BBC Charter mentions social media when it doesn't?

Ensuring the impartiality of the BBC is a key priority for the Trust; it is essential to its independence that the BBC retains the public’s trust as an impartial purveyor of news and programming.

The BBC is required to deliver duly impartial news by the Royal Charter and Agreement and to treat controversial subjects with due impartiality.

Easily readible section there saying BBC charter requires impartiality

Further guidelines issued on social media use to ensure they keep in line with the charter

There are also others who are not journalists or involved in factual programming who nevertheless have an additional responsibility to the BBC because of their profile on the BBC. We expect these individuals to avoid taking sides on party political issues or political controversies and to take care when addressing public policy matters.

It’s clear as day, don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise

A really great opportunity for a complete restyle and reset.

Get back to basics with some enlightened thinking......Birds in tight shorts and cropped tops ??

Bingo !!
Like it! Maybe some sexy models mud wrestling in team colours as each game is shown.....and have live music as well......fantastic! It would get my dander up!

I can see that, but he made that comparison because of the link to nazi Germany. He could have compared the UK government's stance and rhetoric to that of the USAs in recent times ans their border policies. But that wouldn't have had the same impact would it. He deliberately chose the worst government by far in recent history.

Incidentally, The USA's stance and rhetoric in recent times has also repeatedly been compared to that of 1930s Germany. On a much larger scale. Because it, like that of the UK government, is very similar.

I think The BBC have shot themselves in the foot over this. The groundswell of support seems to be on Lineker's side, so I think this one is going to run and run.
Reading this thread I'd say the opposite (I'm ignoring the politics) no one on here cares what Lineker and the rest have to say. Its meaningless drivel.

I think this whole situation has been blown out of all propotion by the BBC.

For me as an individual, regardless of Gary Lineker, my opinions and the way i lead my life is not swayed, influenced or mobilised by what someone on social media has to say.

Yes, i can read it, take it on board, respect an opinion, and maybe enhance my way of thinking perhaps?

The thing that annoys me, is that Britain lost so many lives in WWII, because they fought for freedom.

Is this potentially the first brick in a gigantic wall of removing freedom, and the right to an opinion?

I sincerely hope not.

Or you could have said many of your examples also apply to most other countries and governments at one time or another ;)

Yes, and they too have or should have been called out by their societies. As should their national news agencies, shoul they have tried to control or prevent it.
