I'm not sure, it's why I put a question mark tbh . I know he was in the squad but I don't honestly know if he got on - probably not in all honesty, but I bet he looked good warming up in front of the Main Stand!

And now I do feel old - I saw Stanley Matthews play... I think it must have been against Blackpool either March 9 1960 or April 19 1961 but I'd have to delve into the programme collection to be sure. I did hear him speak at a do in the mid 80s when he was saying that a cartilage injury in his day could be career threatening. "I was lucky - never had a cartilage - but was playing in a charity match last year and did my cartilage in, trying to be too clever".... he was 70.
