For the first time today i managed to hold a short conversation without coughing my lungs up, about 3 weeks from infection to now,that might give those of you suffering badly a time scale

Yes, they should. If they’ve had direct contact with you, or you happen to have coughed/shook hands etc on them.I’ve been off work sick and now I’m working from home. I think I have it, but obviously you can’t get tested.
