Just finished "Quo Vadis" great film. Just wanted to run it by the mods that on ramadan anyone can start a thread mocking islam with "funny" pictures of Mohammed with pithy comments about "sky fairies" and bluemoon will be fine with that and not take down the thread. People have to understand there is lots of resentment towards religion in this country. As a nation we brainwash kids into it. Sat in rows chanting weird stuff designed to confuse. It's only when you grow older you start seeing the nonsense in it. When you see people you love dying, you see the world for what it is you see the total hypocrisy in religion, you see cover ups, the money at the top of religion. There are a few nice things about it don't get me wrong. The music that has come from it and the comfort it can bring people who are struggling. But unfortunately the vast majority of it is utter horse shit and horse shit we are told to accept unconditionally. Many people have had enough of it.

I think what you mean is that you see the world through your own lens (we all do, to some degree) and you happen to think your version of the world is the correct one, and if some random posters on here or on social media happen to agree with you it further verifies your belief, so you come on here and make statements like that, and then you lambaste religion for making the same statements, can you see the contradiction? You won't be the first and you won't be the last to do this, but it's all rather amusing

Worth noting that about 30-40% of British people say that they don't positively believe in a God or don't know. This seems to be much of the position on here. 8% identify as atheist. 1% identify as militant atheist.

As usual you're correct when you suggest that the internet convinces people to think that their beliefs are more popular than they are due to people only really surrounding themselves with people of those beliefs.

Picking a religion / belief system is very like picking a race horse. I'm pretty sure I'm backing the right horse by being a christian and everyone else is wrong and going to suffer an eternity in hell. If the followers of the prophet have guesed right then I suppose they get to laugh at me getting it with hot pokers while they are having it large in paradise with loads of virgins and that - fair fucks, you pays your money and takes your chances. I'm not religious and in fact most of the religious on here would say that nobody is more dismissive of their beliefs than I am, and am willing to bet that I've been guilty of something akin to this in the past. But that's not the point, the point is that it's wrong. I understand the difference between having your say and shitting all over a religious holiday because you feel the need to laugh about how stupid it all is to you. Religious holidays are a couple of days a year and whether or not you believe in them, millions of people do and they should be treated with even an ounce of respect. This is not too much to ask on here. It's supposed to be a forum of adults ffs.

Eh? Really? Christ, there are so many threads on here where you could post that. We've had posters openly mocking the dead, mocking parents of missing children etc, etc. Taking the piss out of religion, regardless of what bloody day it is, is pretty low down the 'it's wrong' stakes.
