Heartburn

Banana spray = bit of discomfort drive home
general = cant drive home longer recovery

SImilar deal to the other end of the body then on that front. but in this case throat numbing vs general anasthetic/Sedation.

Thanks. I have quite a strong gag reflex so not looking forward to this one!

Thread resurrection. anyone had that Camera down the throat thing? I've just been told I need one, what do I need to expect?
Death or at least it seems like it. They have to double anethatise me as I struggle that much, fight the nurse and try and pull it out.
They had to abandon one procedure I was resisting that much.

You’re right mate , not had the sedation but the spray probably 5or 6 times . Common procedure Good luck mate sure you will be ok with it

Wasn't too bad. I didn't have an anesthetic, and It wasn't painful, just a bit weird. After a while I do remember thinking "please get this python out of my stomach".

Can be a bit more uncomfortable when they take a biopsy or remove polyp , still preferable to a general .

Had an appointment for one last Thursday at Wythenshawe. On the notes it said 'IF you are having sedation, you can't drive for 24 hrs etc', so decided to have the numbing spray. I also have a strong gag reflex, and I'm sick most mornings just brushing my teeth, so wasn't looking forward to it one little bit. I told them it was my worse nightmare because of the gag reflex, to which they responded by saying I had to have sedation anyway, as it's a longer procedure than normal, with a more rigid camera and they needed to take biopsies. At no time was I told I had no choice and because I had driven there the procedure was cancelled. The plan now is to book me in for an overnight stay as my wife had a seizure last month and can't drive for the foreseeable future.
