Heartburn

It's a bloody nightmare these winter colds, hope your daughter on the mend
I did a test but negative, sore throat, deep chesty cough, heart burn and totally exhausted. Wife told me to do a PCR test but I never got out of bed until 1 today to start work at 2. I'll maybe do one at the weekend, totally fucked off with all this covid shit now!
This seems like the new normal. It's doing my head in, too.

Cheers bud...Yeah, they didn't find owt sinister, anyway. It might be my gall stone that causes excess acid in the stomach. I don't feel a thing with the Omeprazole, but you can't stay on them long term as new studies have found they can be a bit dodgy.

I have been on them for about 10 years. My Quack hands them out like sweets.

They do...it's only recent reports that have found that long term use may be harmful. The risks might be very small, though, so if you're really suffering with acid/heartburn, it's probably better to stay on them. I want to find out what the CAUSE is so that can be treated...all Omeprazole is doing is masking the problem by treating the symptoms.

Yep, long term use can lead to osteoporosis.

I had heartburn so bad I couldn’t sit or lie down ,after walking around all night it would ease off. I always blamed it on too rich food or scotch.I had 5 or 6 attacks as bad as that over several years until I just had to go to hospital one night where the surgeon said my gallbladder was about to explode and stones had started sepsis in my pancreatic duct. Cost $85000 luckily my UK insurance covered it. Looking back I should have had it seen to a lot earlier it’s about as close to pegging it I have been.

I have been on them years now , I have barretts esophagus camera down every year & biopsies. Watchful waiting . had a couple of benign polyps removed . My advice to any one would be go to the doctors .

I had the camera down my throat around 3 weeks ago. Found nowt bad. Have you had the new sponge test? You swallow a capsule on a line that contains a sponge. The gelatine coating dissolves in the stomach and the sponge expands. They pull it out, and it takes cell samples from the linking of the oesophagus. Far easier than the old way.

not been in recently , must be due to go back soon not heard anything probably due to COVID . The last time I saw the the consultant he changed my medication to esomeprazol .my mrs told me about the new sponge test sounds a lot better . Good to hear you have no problem with it

See a GP.

Acid can damage your throat and/or esophagus, possibly changing cells. Dangerous.

I have damage caused by acid and was warned in no uncertain terms to avoid it.

Omeprazole plus Gaviscon :
Omeprazole 20mg - One twice a day.
Gaviscon advance.

Years of pints of Bitter and pies and City aways has a cost.
