Heartburn

Thats very interesting especially as I was on 20 mil tablet and the specialist what ever that shoved yet another camera down my throat upped it to 40 mil tablets. No mention of side effects or monitoring me.

I’ve been given 40mg straight off the bat.

Not sure what I have but in the last week or so I have woke up three times choking on stomach acid.
From looking around on the internet it sounds like acid reflux.
When it happens I wake up feeling like I am drowning, then it starts to burn.
I then spend the next few hours trying to cough stuff up off my chest.
Something new in your diet? Extra stress over something or just been on the lash for a few weeks?

Apparently Omeprazole is the most commonly taken drug even amongst NHS staff.

I blame Br.....er Hollands pies and Boddies bitter and years of City.

Fuck it....gotta die of summat. Liver failure or acid induced cancer ....you choose.

The only thing I can think is that I've been eating later at night than I usually do.
The other night when it was at it worst, I had some milk and chocolate at night. Not something I have done for a long time.

Had this shit for years but kicked it by cutting out a lot of dairy (no full fat milk), brews, pastry, fruit and white bread. Did the trick and been 'ulcer' free for years up until recently, when stress has kicked it off again.

I've been taking omeprazole for over 20 years and this week have decided to see if I can stop taking them and replace them with slippery elm supplements. I'm having mixed results. The slippery elm works for a while but it feels like my stomach is filling up with acid too much again. I'll see how it goes for another week or so but have a feeling it'll be back to the omeprazole, which works, hence why I've taken it for so long.

Pastry is a killer. Every now and then I treat myself to a pie or two knowing full well that it's going to end badly. I have to get back to eating well. It's just so fucking expensive.

chocolate at night is a no no for me or anytime really.

Eating late also causes me issues.

Eating anything crappy causes me acid ....so I try not to.

Using omeprazole doesnt always stop acid stuff either. It must be a knackered one way plumbing type valve ?
