Helen the bell ringer

I recall a game early 80s where a guy had a seizure during a game at Southampton and because he was on her coach, she stayed down there at the hospital and waited for his family to get down then, instead of taking the bus back.

These are great stories. It's this sort of thing that makes me regret letting myself be born in America and no Manchester, missing out on all this good stuff growing up!

Yes you should have been here or the riots and the the bomb they were great days!

I used to deliver products to Helen every month. Her house was like a shrine to the Blues. Plenty of memories all over the walls. Signed photos and the like. I hope her family kept it all. She was always happy when a fellow Blue called on her.You are never forgotten Helen hope you can look down and see us be champs again soon

What an amazing thread. It's woke up so many memories for me. I'm not going to rattle them off as most of them have alredy been covered and repetition is never entertaining.

What a legend she truly was.

And what a superb idea by Rhys. I think all of those of the same mind should petition the club to do this when we do eventually win something.

I know I'd be blubbing like a kid - in fact I very nearly am already!

If you go on the COMS tour, there's a picture of Helen either facing the home dressing rooms, or along a hallway near the City in the Community area where famous pictures of the club are placed, Not too sure on the whereabouts of it but there is one there, with some sort of tribute plaque beneath it.

I remember the tour guide saying that it was only days after the picture was put up that Helen passed on. RIP.
