Religion is power gained from people's fear. People in general don't like the thought that after we die that's that.
The church change the goalpost on all sorts of stuff it says not to do in the bible. So what's it all about? It's bullshit!!

Thanks for that profound insight

He is right, though.

And hence wars are started because people are so sure they are right, what about a bit of flexibility in your thinking it works wonders, you start to see both sides, it's also great just to say "I don't know"

...but as the op said to start with, how do you know (not believe, know)?

We know Jesus existed, that is a fact, not a belief !

Really?

As far as i know there is not one mention of him, during his supposed life time.

Please point me to where this "fact" can be verified.

Well if you can't accept that Jesus lived there is pretty much no point in an argument. It's a fact he existed as much a fact that the Roman's existed (you do believe in them), historians pretty much to a man accept that Jesus lived.

Im pretty sure he existed. Not to the letter of how the bible portrays him as but I reckon he was a just a dam good preacher that the Romans thought was getting too big for his sandles. I can't let myself believe the so called miracles. Unless he was a very early David Blaine/Dynamo. But I doubt it.

We are talking about evidence vs belief, i will come down on the side of evidence every time.
I have not seen one Atheist state for a "fact" that JC was not a real person, but almost all Theists do, where is the evidence? and that is before we come to the "fact" that JC was/is the son of god.
I could follow your lead and say that "i don't know" if pink elephants fly around the Moon, but the evidence is not there.

I'd put it to you that wars are started because people take religion too seriously and literally.

There is overwhelming evidence that Romans existed (physical evidence), non that JC did.

The first mention of JC was about 40+ years after his supposed death.
There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus.

Which war would that be?

If you are looking for Jesus you won't find him, but if you look for Joshua you may but it was a very common name

To be fair out of all the atheists on here you do your best at playing the fanatic I would suggest you are just a mirror image of everything you profess to hate
