Hey YOU! why are you a city fan?

Got taken to City's games on or near Boxing day by the next door neighbour for a few years starting when I was about 10 (I'm 32 now), I remeber it was always cold but the noise of the crowd would always warm you up. On and off for I would go to maine road, been in most stands including the kippax before it got demolished. Since we moved to Eastlands being steadily going more often upto now where I rarely miss a home game despite living in Bristol and now Northampton (hoping to move to manchester in the summer).

It always has been a thrill to go to watch them play the boys in blue always play with heart. Its the fans though that are amazing especially through the years of relegation and promotion up and down the leagues. I just absolutley love the club.

Recently got married and have converted the wife to the blue side of manchester and she also loves it. Its infectious.

I had a thread like this ages ago and seeing now that the fouroms is full of new members

i thought i would ask why your a city fan?

was you born into it,or did you just pick city as your team?

For me personaly i fancied a girl at school who was a mad city fan,and decided i would

support city too,i slowly became infected with the blue madness and now find myself sneaking

on skysports to see if we have signed anyone at 3:00am in the morning..

its caused me great pain and joy over the years like when them rag bastards were chanting

"were going to wembley and your going to endsleigh".

But we all wouldnt change, someone once said on this fourom that we dont pick to be city

fans we get chosen.

CITY TILL I DIE

im an australian by chance
me old man is manc and i was born into this world with sky blue blood!!

as a kid loved football and would watch any game on tv, didnt follow a team as such but liked idividual players like gascoigne, lineker, rush, wright. My mum was more of a football fan than my dad, i remember us doing the rodger milla dance in the living room when i was 10 watching the 1990 world cup.
a bit after i then started nagging my dad to take me to watch a game, he said it would be easier if i suported a team, and to choose one of the nearest ones to where we live. On anglesey its mainly lfc or them, with a fair ammount of everton fans aswell and my friends were a mix of the three. I came home one day and said that city would be my team as i wanted to be different to my friends.
the nagging continued, then early 1992 i was asked if i would go with my dad and grandad to collect a new wardrobe, from manchester, in a ford fiesta!! thats when i saw city beat spurs 1=0, david white scored.
Went a few times with my mum and dad after that, then with Holyhead suporters club. Had a season ticket for maine rd then for 5yrs, then at coms for 2yrs.
Now the whole family are blue, dad, mum, sister, nephew, grandad, i cant go to as many games these days due to work but the blue force is still strong!!

the first Hearts player I idolised was Arthur Mann .. started looking out for the City scores after he signed then when I was old enough started making the trip from Edinburgh.

i started life as a bit of an oldham fan as my step dad played for them (roger palmer) so i supported them as kind of a loyalty thing to him but as he was coming to the end of his career i wanted to support a manchester team as i am from manchester unlike most rags ha ha.
most of my family originate from dublin and are mostly city fans that lived around moss side. plus as some of you may know roger played for city too!
so i made my decision and despite the shite we have been through i would never change being a city fan for all the money in the world, im proud and honoured to wear there shirt and own a season ticket.

Ooh Roger Palmer! Legend
he was that!!! i remember his testamonial after the match i was sat at a table between peter ried and niall quinn and and all i remember is that niall quinn was a miserable git
