Hi Fi

With all the music that is debated, posted and loved on this forum..

Are there any of you into Hi Fi?

Not exclusively but:

Cambridge Audio
Cyrus
Linn
Monitor Audio
Roksan

Etc.

I'd love to hear your systems and setups/advice. Only got into it last couple of years but my whole collection is just amazing to listen to on decent gear.

Thanks
In my time I have had Cyrus 1 and 3 Amplifiers which were brilliant. Mission speakers (cant remember the model it was so long ago) and a Marantz turntable. Current system is

Linn Majik DSM
Monitor Audio Gold 300 floor standard
Marantz 6003 CD Player (seldom used)
Because I like multi room music I use SONOS connect in a couple of rooms to utilise this system and an AV sound system in another room plus I have a couple of other SONOS speakers around the house.
I had the main system properly wired underfloor when I renovated the lounge at the same time as installing a new AV system so the room is pretty much wireless which keeps Mrs S happy.
I source nearly 100% of music through TIDAL
Unhappily in a moment of supreme stupidity, I got rid of my vinyl collection when it was proclaimed that it was dead vs CD. I have a pretty large CD collection which goes untouched and stream Tidal at the best quality I can. Does me. Sounds good and extremely convenient.

Pretty much same here concerning CDs. Have hundreds but I've noticed recently the value is going back up on them. Rouge Ameba (I think it's called that) has a good app for multi-room via airplay protocol. Got it for PC but like you I just stream now.

Although I did burn all my CDs to a device in case the 'tinterweb goes down.

I agree. Chord Clearway for me. Diminishing returns after that.

Cyrus One
CXN V2
Monitor Audio Silver 50
Concept 20 stands
Cambridge Audio minx Sub
Project Audio turntable..

And a cheap CD transport that goes through the CXN.
You have a cyrus 1. Love that amp. I still have a boxed 1 and 3 each waiting for a repair when I can be arsed. Do you really need a Sub with your MA speakers? How do you find the media player. Have never had or listened to Cambridge Audio stuff but they do have a very good name.

I thought I could get by without a sub, but I find the Monitor Audio are bright.. great clean sounding but bright. The bass is there but I like it deep when listening to LFO, Squarepusher :-)

I'm happy with the CXN. It plays every format apart from the high end DSD stuff and sounds great. It's by no means high end.. you can get into some crazy territory further up the ladder.
