Trying to bed in my new karrimor boots and failing , karrimor have never previously let me down but my heels are blistering every time even with plasters, strapping, heel grips etc
Just wondering what boots are recommended for wider feet ?

Only once . Too sweaty . Are your boots leaking or did you step in a bog ? I've mainly given up trying to keep my feet dry on the moors in anything but the coldest weather , mostly wearing trail runners with or without ankle support , which dry out quickly. Feet stay warm unless it's freezing cold . For winter I wear leather boots, not gortex membrane, as once the gortex gets punctured you might as well have your foot in a bucket . But they do cost ....

Bacup is a lovely spot for hiking isn't it ? Lots of really interesting quarries up on the moors .

I got a couple of pairs of waterproof socks a few years ago and have been pretty happy with them. They’re not cheap ($20-30 over here in the US), but work quite well. My feet do end up a bit wet from sweating, but stay pretty warm.

No point. I've tried Sealskinz waterproof socks before and you just get soaking with sweat.

Much better off just wearing good quality merino socks, that way even if you get wet you're still warm.

I’ve got wide feel. I can’t get on with Scarpa and lot of the other top end brands which I’ve tried. I’ve had a pair of Berghaus Explorer Ridge boots for 10 years that are like wearing slippers and still going strong.

Anyone have any experience with Hoka walking or hiking boots?
No….. but. I’ve worn a few Hoka trail shoes (Challengers mainly) and always found them really comfy out of the box. The boots always look a bit clumpy but I’m sure they function pretty well.
Had a lot of success with Inov8 boots but they’re a bit of a struggle to get at a decent price now.

Heading up to Clitheroe area later running an errand , gonna make a day of it and get a few miles in , any recommendations for particular area or walks I should look out for

Pendle Hill is a favourite of mine . Start at Barley for the most direct route up . Big car park there too.

What's the terrain like , missus broke her collar bone last year whilst out hiking so still a bit wary and cautious ?

There are some gentle-ish walks in the Hodder valley and a cracking pub, the Inn at Whitewell.
