Hillsborough - The Search for Truth

^^Agreed needs a much wider audience than tucked away in here.

Apparently Boris has apologised for his comments which sort of implies that he did make them after all.

Neither of the major political parties comes out smelling of roses although that won't stop one or two of them trying to make capital. It's already started.

There have been plenty of apologies in the last 24 hours from senior people who are in a position to actually do something. Let's see some action to prove it's not just hand-wringing or diversionary tactics.

This is a master-piece imho
the temptation to escalate into lurid insults, to let the red mist dictate the keyboard must have been over-whelming. That you resisted made it more, not less, powerful and deserves a wider audience.

Bloody hell, thank you mate.

And cheers too to Kirkstall.

Hi LT I agree it is an excellent piece though I should take issue with the following

- The harrowing news that 41 of the 96 could have been saved if they had received treatment after the crude 3.15pm cut-off point.

I don't think anyone at the stadium imposed the 3:15 cut off rule, the pathetic effort to save lives did continue after this time. I think the 3:15 cut off time was imposed by the examining Coroner which in turn meant any evidence about anyone was potentially alive after 3:25 could not be submitted. Therefore I dont think anyone was not saved who could have been saved, just that if that was the case we would never have heard about it.

Like I said though, it is an excellent piece.

I know there are more important things to consider after yesterdays news but as we now know no blame for Hillsborough can be attributed to “drunken fans”. Will this mean safe standing and drinking while watching the match can be reconsidered?

Mick Dennis was on sky this morning mentioning this
One was the mirror the other was another red top

He just said they had a small column and only used quotes used by other people.
I still think they should also be copping some of the flak.
Maybe mate

Oh And breaking news on sky

Borris has apologised for his comments in 2004.

The kunt has been caught out so then apologises (8 years too late). Yep I bet all those in Liverpool take this as really sincere Boris.

That's right. The point about the 41 is that the poorly co-ordinated rescue meant that possibly 41 of the 96 would have been still alive and could possibly have been saved if adequate medical attention had been received promptly.

There was no triage carried out and ambulances that had the proper equipment & personnel weren't allowed inside the stadium. There are stories of dead people going in the ambulances initially, instead of ones who could have been saved.

The 3:15 cut-off time imposed by the coroner effectively meant that the authorities decided that all were dead by this time and therefore no evidence of negligence or the failure to react and save people could be heard at the inquest. The statment of policewoman Debra Martin that Kevin Williams was stil lalive well after this time was rubbished by her seniors and a pathologist who wrongly said he couldn't possibly have spoken with the injuries he had.

whilst the sun and others need to be held accountable there's a danger any witchhunt deflects from where the blame really lies - the police

Thatcher knew all about it so the old woman has to take some flak.
